Lesson learned from a roller with less than a year at the game.

If two identical blends are used, one rolled really loosely vs. one rolled tighter and properly, the better rolled cigar will taste much better. Some of you will say “duh” but I thought I’d pass that tip along.

Something else, the tips of a leaf has much more flavor than the opposite end of the leaf... another DUH thing I’m guessing. :)

How to describe cigar flavor?
How could one describe the taste of an apple, or banana?
Cigars have their own unique flavor profile. To describe cigar flavor we compare them against food or the flavor of spices. Neither really is adequate but it’s all we have I suppose.
I cannot describe the nice flavor of a good seco or ligero against the flavors of food or spices. I know many of you are god at that, not me.

Tobacco spice or pepper in particular will “hit” different areas of my tongue. I don’t care for those tobaccos that hit my throat or back of the tongue. Olar, Nicaraguan, or Honduran ligero are three general groupings that hit the back of my tasters that I don’t care for. With some exceptions, of course.
I like Honduran ligero, not Honduran viso.
Odd, I know.

Another lesson learned: (learnt)
I put my home rolls in the same cooler as my Cubans. Big mistake. The home rolls have a lot more moisture than the Cubans. Now we all know (or should know) cigars take on moisture faster than they release it. My Cubans are now too “wet” as they took up the moisture from the home rolls.

I NEED MORE STORAGE SPACE!

One would think I would learn. I’ve many cigars without bands. I roll a bunch with the intention of labeling them the next day or so. Well. After a few days I forgot completely what the blend is. So now I’ve got a bunch that I have little idea of the blend.
Here’s an example of many I removed from the Cuban cooler. It’s pretty good but I know it’s got Mexican San Andres wrapper on it.
I’m sooo lazy with this home roll obsession!!
