I find that I can’t enjoy my cigars when doing any type of physical activity. I feel like I get the most out my cigars when sitting down with friends and smoking while having a conversation. I have tried the whole smoking while fishing, cutting the lawn, tinkering etc and while it is not bad, I feel as though I am wasting good cigars by not being able to enjoy them to the fullest. Do any of you experience this?

Two words for you "yard gars". Save the good ones for the special times, smoke the ones not so good when you can't pay attention to what you are smoking.
Words of wisdom.
I’ve tried to weedwhack while smoking. Doesn’t work for me. I either chomped down hard on the cigar or drooled on myself. Drooling sucks! :wtf:

Yeah, I had somewhat of a similar experience doing the same. Fishing and smoking also did not work out how I had envisioned. I think that I am going to stick to relaxing and enjoying my smokes.

I have but I find that piping for the most part requires much more attention to smoking (constant tamping and relighting) than if you were smoking cigars.

The fishing I do is normally very involved. I may try some quicker smokes or cigarillo. I made the mistake of trying to smoke an AJ Fernandez New World while tarpon fishing with a buddy and when I finally got hooked up I thought I was going to die from all of the smoke I inhaled.

Don't inhale.

Do you have any pics of some tarpon you have caught? That has to be crazy fun.

I completely agree; if I am not relaxing or otherwise “idle” I don’t enjoy it as much, in fact it tends to get in the way. I am smoking too fast, or too slow, and my mind is on what I’m doing and not the experience.

Smoking alone is slightly better, but I need to be reading or watching something. The best case scenario is smoking with others and having weighty discussions on the issues of the day.

Smoking has a lot to do with cadence and draw...relaxing so that you're not under duress from some other activity that tends to keep you from enjoying the whole experience. When diverted from smoking your cigar you tend to pick up a pace that is too fast...the cigar burns hotter and faster and becomes acrid and then drooling messes up everything....like making out with your G/F or wife while you are dipping snuff. I can do that and used to be able to eat a meal with Copenhagen in my upper lip but it takes raw talent to do that and when you screw it up....hell to pay.

It wouldn't inhale on purpose but when a 120+ pound fish is whooping your ass it becomes difficult to concentrate on anything else. I will ask my fishing buddy to see if he has any tarpon pic of fish we've caught together. We have had regulations in place for a while now prohibiting the removal of protected fish such as tarpon and Goliath grouper from the water for pictures. We also try to release the tarpon as quickly as possible while they are still strong because the areas that we fish are full of bull and hammerhead sharks that love to eat tarpon. We had two 60 pound fish get eaten back to back by the same hammerhead one night and plenty of close calls. Tarpon fishing is the craziest type of inshore fishing one can do in South Florida. I have caught 175+ pound (weight calculated by measurements) fish that took me 1 hour and 40 minutes to land, we have had 70 pound fish jump next to the skiff and land inside, we have had behemoth fish jump clear over the boat and then we also have the sharks to deal with.

I feel exactly the same way.

Took me years to figure this out. I'm a slow learner and or stubborn but.....
I'm the same way.
Give me a cigar or pipe and some good conversation or Netflix and I'm in heaven.
I used to try and incorporate cigars and pipe tobacco into everything and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong.
Once i eliminated it to actually relaxing and focusing on what mattered around me it centered me and is much more enjoyable now.
Trial and error. Worked for me.

I love a good cigar on a hot day while mowing the lawn. The cigar can get a bit hot, the smoke can get a bit harsh, and it’s something you don’t want to do with a premium stick. But something about the stifling heat and the almost-too-much-smoke combo is supremely enjoyable.

...at least compared to mowing without a cigar.
