  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

When you are in the mood for a mild smoke, what do you reach for?

I guess the different cigars for different occasions place needs to be broken down.

Sometimes I am in the mood for a more mild smoke and I have thus far reached for Macanudos (a few different Macs).

I would like to branch out, so some suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

Usually I'm not a mild cigar smoker, but when I am in the mood I love RP Conneticut. Also Ashton makes some great mild cigars. (Although if you want the Ashton flavor without the Ashton price I'd go with some Cusano 18s. To me they taste almost exactly the same.)

We probably have different theories on what is mild.

My morning smoke is the Cuesta Rey Centrofino Sungrown, the Churchill #1. I want lots of flavor but dont want to be blown away after breakfast. This cigar does the job. An alternative is the Montesino Aged Cabinet Reserve Pyramids, a very interesting cigar with some Opus X in it.

Gisperts are good, so are Mac's. Also, the Mexican Santa Claras are about the mildest cigar in the world, but pretty tasty. Having said that, I can't remember a time that I thought to myself, "Hey, I'd like something mild for a change!"

CAO Black (more medium, but very creamy and smooth--NOT the CAO VR!!)

5 Vegas Gold (cheapest, but good)

Rocky Patel Signature (hardest to find cheap, but the best of this list IMHO)

Rocky Patel Connecticut (excellent)

R&J Bully (tough to beat the classic!)

I'm told the CAO Gold is great, but haven't tried it yet. Also, H. Upmann is a nice mild-medium smoke, but it's been years since I had one.

In no particular order:

Perdomo Lot 23 & Champagne (ps - the 'seconds' are really good)
Ghurka - Symphany & Grand Envoy
Playboy by Don Diego
Griffin's
Rocky Patel Edge lite
Don't forget La Aurora & 5 Vegas!

It's been a long while since I've actually smoked any of these - But these are all IMO very good mild smokes.
