  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I hate this. If you want to buy cigars and smoke them fine. Buying and selling simply for a big profit sucks. Dont get me wrong. I understand retailers and the need to make a buck. I even understand collectors that sell their stash after changing hobbies etc. But to buy these and sell to the highest bidder, well I just have too much respect for the man that made them and would NEVER give someone like this the satisfaction. Sorry for the rant but this is one of my pet peeves.

The Tat Black I got as part of NHC's "Pete's Pick" sampler is celloed, so I know some of the Blacks are sold this way.

These were being sold at W. Curtis Draper's where Pete was doing his Frank release event. They only had a few and i was lucky enough to get one, they are completely legit. They came celloed in bundles of 25, they were also selling the Robusto 3 packs and I heard that they sold some Jars earlier in the day. I am not saying i agree with selling them on ebay or recommend buying them, but they are legit. I have smoked several already and they are definitely the real deal.

Chuck, I hate this also. I had some over runs with lighter wrappers that were shipped to me in bundles of 25 in cello. Some were for me to smoke and I had some left over for a few good clients for them to refill their display jar for single sales or to do samplers with. I am not happy that a whole bundle went out like this. Especially for some guy trying to take advantage of the rarity.....They are real but I will suggest....DON'T BUY THEM.......This will be the last time I send bundles out like this thanks to one bad apple.......:angerhead

Yes Hendy, I am not happy with this..........Good call brother and thanks for the heads up.......

Draper was also explaining to the customers that the promo on the 3 pack was only for the day I was there and they also informed the few people that got bundles like this that they were of lighter color. I was there when all the boxes were being shipped. Also, the 3 packs were left over from the Little Puff(Draper's Charity Event) and the sale is all going towards their charity.

Good call Pete. Although I am happy to be the recipient of a bundle i agree that the sale like this on ebay is bullshit. Why would anyone in their right mind sell a bundle of Tat blacks anyway?:rifleaim:

Hope i did not misrepresent here Pete, was only telling BOTL's what i was told by Draper's. However, for your info, they never mentioned to me that this had anything to do with charity, and did not tell me that the wrappers had a lighter color. Not that it matters to me but if that was the agreement then they certainly failed. Just FYI.

I guess this is just a life lesson. No matter how hard you try to make something special for people to consume and enjoy, someone will try and make a buck fro it. I enjoy cigars, hell I love cigars. I have met some of the best people I know sharing a stick and the moment. I believe you can truly tell the difference in a product amde by people that love what they do and people just trying to make a buck. I have enjoyed many boutique cigars that started out awesome and then gave in to marketing ploys and now flood the market with substandard product

Pete, stick to your guns. Your products are truly excellent. Don't let a few misguided idiots out to make a buck sway you from creating products we all enjoy. That being said, I am going to now smoke my last black robusto and give it a fitting Viking send off.

It is because of stuff like that that I want to emulate the Frankenstein movies of old and form a lynch mob complete with torches and pitchforks.

Dave, I don't think they told anyone that the 3-packs sale were going to charity but I know that is what they did with the money. The guys from Draper's are some of the best people in the business and some of my best friends. That is why I support them so much. Obviously, the mention about the bundles were not conveyed correctly to the few that got them but they sold it for the regular price. The problem I have is this person buying them just to try and take advantage of the rarity.

Trust me Dave, Draper did not fail me in any way.......

I gotta pipe in here and say that when i saw the listing this morning,i believe the asking price was $250. That's a pretty damend good deal...$10 each. That of course assumes i saw the price correclty, i wouldn't call that price gouging.

I do however see and understand pete's point...this isn't how the celloed blacks were intended for sale, and someone dropped the ball by selling them thataway. And i'm sure it'd be pretty easy to narrow it down, eh pete?

Hey Pete. Didn't mean to stoke the fire. But it really gets me going when people take advantage of a good thing. I am thrilled to have what I have of your line. But I would not "sell out" to make a profit. And I would not have what I have if I didn't run accross this fine site of Brothers. For that, I thank you all. As for the gouger, what a needle dick.
