  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Did I receive the right Aurora Preferidos???

Hey everyone I'm new to this community and I'd still consider myself a novice cigar smoker though I do thoroughly research every purchase I make.

So last week I was one of the lucky winners who won five La Aurora Preferidos Limited Edition '06 robustos from cigarbid. When I received the sticks I noticed that the band did not match up exactly with the pictures I saw on cigarbid and cigarsinternational.

Though the style of the band is similar the one in the picture shows a band that says 'Desde 1903' and 'hecho a mano' (http://www.cigarbid.com/auction/ima...le=La Aurora Preferidos 2006 Cameroon Robusto)

The ones I received say 'hecho a mano' but instead of '1903' they just say Cameroon.

Does anyone else here have some of these so that they can let me know if I received the wrong sticks? Maybe I'm being too picky but I just want to make sure my money was spent on the right cigars.

Thanks!!!

They are actually different in taste. I've had both. If yours says Cameroon on it, than you got the better of the two. I'm sorry I don't have more info on hand. But you made a good purchase & those are very good, if not the best cameroon on the market.

Thanks a bunch Soundwave13, that's the news I was hoping to hear. I'd consider myself a Cameroon buff so I'm just glad I got the right sticks.

Quick question, though, are there any other Cameroon sticks you'd recommend? I've tried Partagas Decadas, CAO CX2, and a few others but I'm hoping to give the Olivia serie G a go. What do you think?

The special 2006 run you are referring to was just of the robustos, and I don't think the original Preferido came in a robusto for the Cameroon wrapper. So you got the right stick, but they had the wrong picture up (yes, it happens too frequently there).

I 2nd the Arturo Fuente Hemingway...I've only had one, but it was amazing.

I love Cameroons! Try the Oliva G for sure, as well as the Torano 1916 which is awesome. Also try the CAO l'Anniversary Cameroon (I like the Oliva G better at a cheaper price, but to each his own).

Then there are the Gurkhas: Class Regent Nepalese Warrior, Royale Brigade, and Grand Age.

On the cheaper side (where I usually live), here are some under $2/stick:

--The regular "La Aurora" line is a Cameroon as well, and quite affordable (they even have 2nds on cbid sometimes, they had be had for around $1.50/stick in bundles!).
--Indian Tabac Cameroon Legend. Very tasty and cheap.
--La Vieja Habana "Leather Patch". Cheap and nice, 91 rating from CA
--La Vieja Habana Cameroon fumas. These can be had for LESS than $1/stick on cbid. They're short-filler, but actually pretty good imo. Great "yard gar."

The La Aurora Preferido Cameroon is my favorite cameroon. You've already mentioned that you are going to try the Oliva G. The Camacho Select and Arturo Fuente Don Carlos are also very good. I also think the Nub Cameroon is pretty tasty. It is the only Nub that I liked.

Love me some Cameroons. The Indian Tabac's are fantastic for the money.
Couldn't agree with you more on the Hemmingway.

Oh yea, how could I forget about the NUB! I like those. The smallest one has the most classic "Cameroon" flavor (cedary sweetness), but the box-pressed torpedo is the best overall stick, imo.

La Aurora Preferidos Limited Edition '06 Lancero is what smoked up. I didn't care much for the Oliva Cameroon.

Go try the Cusano 59 cameroon, great cigar.
Hemmingway rock too
Don Carlos rocks
God Of Fire - carlito blend best damn cameroon cigar ever, well that I have smoked.

Nub cameroon wasn't so good.

I'm not sure the different bands on the perferedos are different cigars when both Cammy. They sell a Platinum Tube and a Preferido out of the tube both Camroon, I think the band just distinguishes the two ways they sell the cigars. They might be slightly different in sizes also, but I'm sure the same cigar tubed or not has different bands.

Perdomo makes great Cameroon sticks (You'll love the ESV's), though Perdomo tends to make them on the 'mild' side.

LFD Cameroon Cabinet's are fantastic, a little more medium.

La Caya makes a good Cameroon too.
La Aurora 1994 (corona) is a great cigar if you score them in the $5-6 range... I'd jsut go with the Preferido if it's priced $9-10 though.

I like the Preferido Lancero too, but I think the Robusto is better IMO.

Hey Soundwave, I've already tried the ESV '91 Conn. and those are damn tasty cigars (especially if I don't want to wake up with the heavy taste in my mouth that those 5 Vegas 'A's give me) so I'm pretty psyched to try a cameroon!

Ok here is my cammy suggestion

Torano 1916

I like the corona size best, but the larger sizes were good too. And at onlt $3 a stick, they are well priced.
