  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Question for you guys: Have any of you guys ever suffered from cigar burnout?

Lately I have been feeling like I need a break from cigar smoking. It seems like I am wasting more cigars than I am enjoying. It's like the cigars don't taste as good as they use too, and they are less satisfying.

I'm thinking of giving up cigars for a couple months and going over to smoking primarly pipes. Or maybe even just take a break from tobacco all together for a while.

I quite smoking cigerettes about 2 weeks ago, and maybe that is changing my taste in cigars? Or maybe by tastebuds just need a friggin break for a while.

Anyone else have this happen to them?

And don't worry I am not going anywhere, I will still be here on BOTL for conversation, trades, buys and smart assed responses to threads.

Take a break for a couple of months. This happens to me at least once a year! Heck, I even took a year off once, and came right back to it. Its wonderful when you get back.

Try not smoking one for a while and then on a special occasion, light one up. OR you can introduce someone to the art of cigar smoking and let them try some of yours. I'm up for that!:smokingbo

I think any of us who've smoked for a longer period of time have gone through it. I sometimes don't have one for a week or so, but then Friday comes when I work at the lounge and I can't wait to spark one, two or five.

I've taken breaks before where I don't smoke for awhile. I think that in the past, I've done it when I was smoking a lot just because I had the time, instead of smoking because I really wanted to light one up.

I agree that it's that much sweeter when you return!

i think a lot of times your body tells you what it wants, or doesn't want. if you're smoking just to smoke and don't really enjoy it, you're wasting your time and money. you'll know when you're ready!

Hdroadglide is spot on for me. Do you light up a cigar because you really want that cigar, or do you light up as a routine? If you smoking just to smoke, for me no need to take weeks or months off, just wait until you really want one.

Are you smoking on a very regular basis? I can't say I've ever been burned out, per se- I will only smoke when I feel like it, and have taken "breaks" that have lasted over 2 months at times. I don't really consider it to be any sort of issue, I simply don't have the desire to smoke a cigar. When you get back from that much time, the first cigar is .... nothing short of orgasmic.

Best of luck to you. Take a break, but don't do it for the sake of "I'm going to wait exactly one month." You will know when you want to relax with a good stogie. :cbig:

Take a break for a week or two and give your taste buds a break. I find that after a couple of weeks cigars taste great again.
