I had a 601 Blue over the weekend. First time having one. I enjoyed it.

I haven't had a DPG Blue Label so I couldn't tell ya the differences though.

I enjoyed the few 601 blues that I had, but the Blue Label is more my flavor profile and is one of my old time favorites. Blue Labels do well with age and is in the minority of cigars that I prefer in a Toro as opposed to a Corona or Corona Gorda. To this day, the Generoso with the old label('08) is one of the richest, most complex cigars I've ever smoked.

Smoked them both, prefer the 601 by far! For starters, the 601 features a maduro wrapper, while the DP Blue has a corojo wrapper (both Nicaraguan filler/binder) and packs a little more punch and spice over the 601 Blue.......I've said it before and I will say it again, the 601 Blue is one of the best Maduro's I've smoked regardless of price, and it's a staple in my collection! Be that as it may, I would recommend buying a sampler of both and judging for yourself.

I don't think you can go wrong with either of them. Love the 601 blues ROTT or with a little time on them. DPG blues I think are best after about a year or two of rest. Get a fiver of both and see for yourself. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

The 601 blue is the only 601 I really do not care for. The 601 Greens are fantastic cigars if you have not tried any of the line. The Pepin blue labels when bought on sale are a staple for aging a year or 2 or even more in my humidors. They age better then most cigars in this price point imo. I have some right now that are less then a year old and can't seem to stop smoking them right now which is not my norm. I tend to smoke something different every day. And as others have said 2 totally different animals of cigars. I've also smoked blue labels with 5 years on them that would hold there own with some of the best aged CCs. In fact I think they have a slightly similiar profile to a aged Partagas IMO.

I can't attest to that but it's nice to see an equally favorable opinion on these. Wish I had more of them stored up as I am down to about ten in various sizes.

Two completely different cigars.....DPG is made by Pepin and 601 is made by Jaime Garcia.

Blend and wrappers are completely different......

Mr. Tatuaje I think you are incorrect about Jamie Garcia making the 601 Blue Maduros...every place I see says DPG is the maker not Jaime. Maybe I am splitting hairs...

All you can really say is two different smokes! I like the Pepin Blue better because I am a Corojo whore, but if you like Maduro wrappers better then go for the 601 Blue. If you try both and like the Pepin better then try the 601 Red and Green which will be closer in profile to the Pepin Blue.

RP does not own the 601 or any EO Brand cigars. He distributes them only. The blends have not changed.
