Reading Jwrussell's thread made me want to ask for your opinions on which cc's you recommend with this taste profile:
(creamy, nutty/cashew's, and coffee or sweetness)
I had a Trinadad Robusto Extra and LOVED it! However there a bit pricey so I would like to know what other cc's you think are close if not the same in flavor profile/size as that one was.

Hmmmm...that's tough. I don't have enough experience with a number of the Marcas to speak for them, but the only line that tastes similar to Trinis is Cohiba to me. And I know plenty will argue that point as well.

I'll let others chime in though as I'm not good at detecting individual notes like the ones you mention.

I know you mention flavor profile & size, but if you are flexible on size, Trini Reyes are more affordable and a great smoke.

2 that remind me of floral nutty are SLRs and Punch. But to me Punch can be slightly bitter so I stay away from them.

Nice cigar a little reminiscent of an older and milder Siglo VI, I prefer the Coloniales but to each his own. My go to these days is anything and everything Bolivar, if I want something short a PLPC, Boli Corona Junior or H. Upmann Corona Major, all of these much smaller than what you're looking for.

VR is probably the one that I would say have all these, and they are not pricy as well

I always find HDM very floral. I've had a few PSP2's and got a floral/nutty flavour with some vanilla in there. I'm not a coffee drinker, and have never tasted coffee in my cigars, so it could be there, probably just by buds

The coffee I refer too is like just a hint and not the for front on flavor. I could be wrong on that as it could even be like a cocoa hint maybe but if you've had a Trinidad Rob or Extra Rob maybe you can help me out on the flavors you got. All I know is it was creamy, nutty, floral, and hints of sweetenss. Also a Med-Full cigar which is also right up my alley.

The San Cristobal Mercaderes('06), I have had an extremely floral, nutty, coffee taste from my past experiences. They are a bit on the pricey side, but worth it if you are looking for that profile. I cannot speak on any year except '06 since that's been my experience.

Tom, I had a H. Upmann no. 2 about 2 months ago that exhibited many floral nutty notes with some heavier leather and coffee notes towards the finish, I think It could be right up your alley! I have no idea what the year was.

I'll check my notes to see if I can come up with anything else, but two that immediately come to mind are the PSP1 jar release and VR (I think famosos).

Recenty I've had some HDM Ep.#2's that have been floral/woody with a chocolate mousse finish. That's not much help with the nutty/coffee profile. But the floral is there.

I taste nuts and coffee in several marcas, depending on the stick... but VR seem to strike me as more floral than most if you liked that! I like the famosos and unicos.
Hmmm...I must be discribing it wrong then. I'm not a huge fan of the VR's. I know you've had a Trinidor Jim so maybe you can help me better discibe the flavor profile. Floral is not what I like the most...the creamy, nutty, and sweet taste is.
I just don't have the pallet most of you have so it's hard for me to discribe.

Tom, how important is the size of the cigar? You mention both size and flavor profile in your original post. And I don't know of any LGCs that are anywhere near the size of a Trini RE. If size isn't all that big of a consideration, I would look into the Trini Coloniales. Still a decent sized stick (5.1" x 44 RG). They aren't "cheap" by any means, but more affordable than the Robustos.

yea...I was trtying to stay around that robusto or larger size. Really anything close to that will do. So a Trini Coloniales is still in that ballpark of sizes. I'll look into it.
Thanks everyone and sorry for any confusion my thread may have. It's just hard for me to explain in perfect terms.

The LGC isn't the size your looking for but the flavor profile is pretty spot on.

The 08 LGC#4 that I have had are very floral.

As for nutty someone said Upmann #2 and I would agree. As for a cross of nutty and floral Upmann Connie1 maybe. Also recent production RASS have this characteristic. As someone who used to hate RASS I find them very good in the last 2 years.

I definetly dont find VRs to exhibit this.
