Overall view, doors closed. Other than stripping and refinishing, I did not affect the outside appearance of the original ice box. All of the same hardware and cabinet pieces.

The top lid open. This is the "shadow box" I put in. The original ice box had the same thing except it was built out of oak (which was rotted), and had a metal insulated panel in the center. I rebuilt the same configuration out of spanish cedar, and made the center panel the shadow box. The stuff in the shadow box is just a random collection of old photos, sports tickets, cigar bands, coaching stuff etc. With not too much effort, I can change what's in the shadow box too.

Lower cabinet section with some empty boxes. When I get the accumonitor, I'll see what kind of space is left, and maybe put some shelves down there.

When you lift the lid, the top section has two 12" x 20" x 3" deep trays that sit on the stainless steel cabinet pulls I'm using for support. The guys at Iwan Reis Cigar Co. in Chicago gave me the trays. This is the section where the ice block used to go into. It is open to the section below.

Another view of the top with the trays in, along with some empty boxes. There is a lot of space for boxes, and singles etc. I wanted to leave the storage options wide open. So in the top you can store boxes, or if I add smaller trays that sit in the larger trays, I can have singles there too.

The raised center section was like that in the original ice box (without the memorabilia). It was a drop panel that was insulated and had metal on it.
