So I've been looking at gun associations. Which ones are actually worth it? I've never been an NRA member (or any other gun club member for that matter). Do any of them have local chapter?

Pheasants forever and ducks unlimited have chapters all across the country. These organizations celebrate the outdoors as much or more than gun ownership. They may be alternatives to nra membership you may be interested in.

An NRA membership, IMO, is a sound investment in fighting back the gun control people from changing, or abolishing the 2nd amendment all together. They are the largest gun lobby in Washington, and one of the largest lobbyers in general. The other organizations are fine, but for preservation of our gun rights, the NRA is what's fighting for all us gun owners, regardless of intended use.

"Association" is a loose term. For what?
The NRA, Ducks Unlimited, and USPSA are all drastically different associations related to firearms.

If you join any gun association, the NRA is the one you must. I am a life member and try to be actively involved. The NRA represents its members by staying involved in legislation, offering training, competitions no so many other aspects. There are several deals on membership, including $600 to be a life member (3 of my friends just took advantage of that deal) normally its $1500.
