After smoking a couple bowls of this stuff I've come to realize it has a time and a place (I'm assuming similar to most blends in this price range).

Start with the good:
I always ask my gf to help me out with room note and tin note. She found half & half to be pleasant and it was entertaining for me to watch her struggle to realize the smell she was picking up was anise. This was yet another blend where those two didn't quite match the flavors when being combusted. I was also very impressed with how easy it was to get this stuff lit. I tried a few methods including: straight from the pouch, 1 hour dry time and overnight drying all with similar results.

Not so great:
First two bowls the flavors were incredibly muted, basically just warm air. What I did find is the more alcohol in your system the better this stuff tastes! Not sure if that means it paired well with the stout I was drinking or I was just too drunk to care.

I'm smoking one more bowl currently and the blend really isn't bad. The chemical flavors aren't in your face. The warm air sensation is still there but after about a half bowl I pick up a slight black licorice twang.

Don't think I'll be buying any more of this stuff but the ounce I have left will most likely get burned after a few too many at the bar.

I have smoked Half and Half since the 1970's. It was one of my favorites back then. It changed over the years, mostly for the worse. Then a few years ago, Skandinavian bought the brand and seemed to have begun producing its original formula. So I'm back to smoking it fairly often again. I smoke a few tins a year. It can smoke hot at times, but usually I smoke it slow and it is pretty enjoyable. I like it with either tea and cream or coffee and cream as a side beverage. It is easy to light, stays lit and never leaves a lot of moisture or gurgle. BUT - it can ghost your briar pipes. The ghosting doesn't bother me because I like the taste and flavor. My spousal unit kinda likes the room note too.

My first response upon having a half bowl of fresh h&h in a New cob was that it tasted like a weasels bottom, after a couple days on the shelf and putting in a heavily ghosted briar it packs a punch but the nuances of the blend really come through. One of my grandfathers friends liked h&h and the smell reminds me of card games and sardines on crackers.
