anyone ever flew on Iceland air? Seen they have some pretty good INTL rates if you're just bringing a small carry-on of 22lbs. Saw rates from Cleveland to Ireland for under $500 round trip... and they offer the option to have a stayover in Iceland for a few days free of charge, fun.

I see those rates a lot...my passport is out of date so need to renew. We're going to France next year...Arles, Gordes and Avignon do a 15 day one way cruise there and fly back home for free on points. The cruise is only $1700 for both of us in a balcony cabin...can't wait. Will visit 6 ports on the way to Venice.. will be the 3rd time there.

The wife came real close to booking a trip through them over thanksgiving weekend to check out the blue lagoon and see the northern lights and it was crazy cheap. They run specials all the time if your cool with traveling right before or right after a holiday weekend.

We will be stopping over in Iceland for a few days on the way to Ireland next year so I'll be checking out prices soon.

Just got back from the Netherlands, Belgium and France last week @bostoneo. You should make the trip yourself. It is well worth it.
I want to hit up Netherlands/Belgium/Germany in fall sometime. Hit up Oktoberfest :D

It’s good I checked this thread. We have a multi family trip tentatively scheduled next Summer to Amsterdam as we promised my SILs former Germán Au Paire, that we would fly over to meet her family. Our daughter is the same age.

I might have to separate from part of the family as I want to visit the Mosel, Alsace, France and maybe take a ferry over to the UK for a couple days. I’m certain we will visit Southern Poland for a day as well.

I hadn’t considered using Iceland Air. We would be flying out of Buffalo/Niagara Falls, Toronto, or catching a hopper to JFK. I personally like staying at AirBnBs, while most other family like hotels.

Traveling to Ireland or Italy in the off season would come later as I like to go to warmer areas in Winter and stay awhile.

Iceland Air is pretty good. Kinda no frills. But it's a decent airline. you've got to pay to get a bag on board, but if you're good at traveling light, that's not a problem.

When in Iceland, you definitely want to hit the Blue Lagoon (you can do that in a short stop over, they have plenty of shuttles out and back), it's close to the airport and a cool experience. Everything in Iceland is expensive. You're just going to have to chalk that up and deal with it. If you're there for a few days, you can load up in the duty free on booze, supplies, whatever, and it's generally cheaper than buying in Iceland itself. Golden Circle is worth the trip, a number of the different tours are worth your time. I loved getting to the Black Sand Beaches, but if you only have a day, it might not be possible. If you're going in the summer, you can just rent a car and hit up the sites. They're typically privately owned, but Iceland has a pretty firm belief that even though a family might own the land that a waterfall is on, you should have access to see it/go to it. So you can go see a ton of stuff without paying, just as long as you have a GPS/map (it's not hard), and are respectful of the sites. Just expect to have them want you to buy some stuff (usually a coffee or a coke when you hit a site is pretty common).

The people are great, it's a ton of fun.

Oh, and on some later thoughts, if you're in town, I would highly recommend the Big Lebowski Bar (it is a tourist trap) and the Micro Bar. Micro Bar has some good craft beers. Mikkeller and Friends have a bar as well, and while it's cool, it's certainly pricey like the rest of the area.
