I know a lot of guys here are into coffee as much as cigars, so I am hoping I can find a little bit of help...

I am attempting too find a good grinder (preferably manual for french press coffee). I know they seem to range from about $50 - $300+ for a quality burr grinder, but can't seem to find a lot of info on consistent grinds for a french press setup, all of the reviews seem focused on expresso.

I am currently looking at the Hario Skerton Pro, and the Helor 101. I just want good french press thats it....

Thanks!

The grinder I selected I chose for two reasons: 1) Flat burrs = more consistent particle size 2) steel burrs (vs. ceramic) for better handling larger grind size (better suited to pour-overs and French press). So those are a couple features you could look for. French press grind is really as big as it can get, though. When I had a conical burr grinder I could easily grind for cold brew, which I can't do now.

The Skerton Pro looks great btw. I've had an original Skerton for years. The pro looks like a great upgrade.

The Skerton Pro is the one I've used most and it does a great job. If you really want to get crazy and go overboard the Rok hand grinder is s great one but probably more than I would like to spend if I'm doing all the work.

I couldn't imagine having a hand grinder that has a larger footprint than my electric grinder.

I'm only going to give one tip here because it's the only tip that matters - it's just THE tip.

THE TIP: do not trust every request that comes in your DMs. Some people out there are mean and/or weird. I mean, it's how we ended up with @Pennywise827 on this forum.

The Skerton pro/mini slim pro are a good choice at around the $50 price point. I'd give the Lido 2/3 a look see if you were to venture into the Helor price range. Expect to have a little mud in the cup every now and then with the Hario grinders they are not as consistent as the $150+ grinders.
