• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Were the Camacho cigars re-blended?

http://halfwheel.com/news-camacho-relaunches-dallas-future/ because half-wheel is awfully helpful! short short is "...everything except the connecticut and triple maduro". not that that is necessarilly a bad thing per se. you are just going to have to find out for yourself.

    pipe noob questions

actual crystallization of sugars in pipe tobaccos looks kinda shimmery and evenly spread, possibly like kev's photo. hate to say it, but yours looks fuzzy, like mold. FWIW i have heard of some stuff actually catching mold in tin; GL pease blends, especially the plugs, have bad periods. i had...

    Today's Smoke (2004-2022 Archive)

kinda. it is an el triunfador lance, either OR or the "special" release, both of which have broadleaf wrappers, and are yummy as all get out. o)

    BOTL Newbie Sampler Thread 2.0

so, life got in the way, but chris (andrew) came through with a great pile for me! between being out of town, them tending to bruises and a sinus infection, my side finally went out today (and i think the tracker is downstairs, will check after dinner). sponsor fail, and i am sorry, but...

    Today's Smoke (2004-2022 Archive)

couple few today. latest release MKultra, with thanks to max, and i had a box ordered before i got to the band, dammit! ... and an ortega lance from bigbill, a tasty little bastard. then a JD46 to round it out. didn't like my first, but after a little acclimatization they are awfully...

    pipe noob questions

nothing wrong with curiosity, or wanting to learn, and i hope you enjoy the hell out of it if you go that route! and, of course, there will be people here to hit up if you have any issues. -aro tobacco for pipes is much different than flavored or infused cigars. totally worth trying...

    What's in your bowl today

burned through some OGS in my BotL nording and some saseini in my aldo valenti yesterday while giving a little pipe tutorial to a buddy. that nording is fast becoming my favorite smoker, and it is not even broken in yet! just amazing. o)

    Beer + Old Pipes + 1st Cigar = Vacation

very cool vaca, man! i am guessing by the shape and ash you bombed your dad a fuente SS or best seller? he rocked that burn line hard for a new guy! o) your grandpa's pipes are beautiful. take a little extra effort to dig up tips on caring for meerschaum and they should last your lifetime...

    SOA Cigars

actually, IIRC, the same people who make Black Crown make this, and a few guys have enjoyed that blend quite a lot. my natural fear is this is marketing over substance, but they might not suck. after all, the sopranos cigar had some fans.

    Cigars and Wine

actually i liked to pair opus with riesling, truth be told. the residual sugars gould help ground the nic, and the sweet notes when the opus raisin note popped up was just amazing.

What “Illusione Cigar” had the best flavor profile for you?

love the eperney, but the MKUltra scratches a special itch for me, punishing power with the texture and flavor to say it is necessary.

    Oom Paul

the OOM PAUL is just a shape, like a bulldog or billiard. usually a heavy hanger with a full bent, good for bigger cooler burning blends, like balkan. or your favorite aro. it is the pipe equivelant of a german beer stein: made for when you are going to be at it for a while. not my cup...

    What brands to avoid.

feel free to try anything at least twice, to be fair. we ain't the ones smoking them, you are. tastes change, tastes evolve, and both do so SO VERY rapidly when you are still learning, you just have to smoke to enjoy until you smoke what YOU enjoy. WB brings up an excellent point, though...

    What's in your bowl today

depends in how picky you are. having the clarity of one blend only in one bowl is a good thing, but for my needs and palate i usually dedicate to either english or virginia and be done with it. from what i have seen, dedicate a pipe to a blend only if that blend is a must have for you: you...
