• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Help identifying an Opus X

either pussy juice or black orchid, off the cuff. vitolas.net (or it's current incarnation) is THE place for odd fuente shapes and sizes if you need to dig. and, no, not making that up. it's a thing, i swear.

    Today's Smoke Mini Reviews?

not a bad idea, although you will probably not get this into a standardized thing. you will see frequent pushes for people to give more than a pic and "PCR NOM NOM NOM", for example, probably a couple times a year. sometimes you just want to share the moment, not dissect it. some are lazy, or...

Affordable boxes for long term aging

solid on every call so far. i would add the tat havana VI, maybe in the hermosos, angeles, or victorias (CG, PC, and PL respectively). but honestly, based on historical inertia, the padron K's. more people have had more success with these than anything else it seems. i love me some londres...

New to the Pipe game, quick question.

i love my cobs, but HATE the cheap vinyl stem. if you want to keep practicing before you invest in briar, look up "forever stems". vulcanite or lucite made to fit cobs. one stem changed over several cob bowls and you have a pretty good system going. i recommend walker briar works, they do...

    Aging Boxes Question

leave it as intact as possible. the more original packaging, the less inclined you are to get into it. at least that's what i tell myself to keep my chubby mitts out of MY stash. o)

Fuente Fuente Opus X Perfexcion (2006)

yup! as much as i live me some fuente, opus freshies are not really where it's at. a little time and patience go a long way on this brand, all the power but a richness and fullness to the texture, allowing you to pick it apart better mentally. part of the problem, IMO, is that they have...

    1st Pipe

+2 to these guys. o) if you want to start with briar, and you want new, kaywoodie or dr. grabow. just make SURE the kaywoodie isn't brylon, that stuff sucks really bad. if you can find an estate, that is where it's at on deals. but that is another conversation. really, my cobs smoke just...

What is your favorite morning smoke?

padron londres or 2000, corona sized man'o'war (puro authentico) or diesel, and maybe the new ortega shorts (which i have not tried but look damn decent!). maybe the tat VI angeles as well. or south of miami. aMAzing flavor packed petites. my first choices would be the fuente short story...

So I've been practicing taking long slow draws..

YUP! pacing with cigar smoking is like learning how to truly taste alcohol, as opposed to just downing it. HUGE worlds of flavor and nuance open to you at this point. mind you, there is still a time and place for just puffing up a storm. o) but it is nice to have the option.
