Best Cheap Stogie for Under 1 buck

Another Parodi/DeNobli fan here. They were the first cigar I ever smoked, back when they were less than $0.05 a stick ($0.23 for a 5 pack to be exact). They are now about $0.75 each, but are a reasonable quality cigar, and provide a tasty medium-full smoke. I just got back from my annual...

    Living in Caribbean

I live part of the year on Grand Cayman - similar humidity - and I keep my cigars in a humidor at 65%. I suppose it would be Ok for some folks to leave them out in the typical 70-80% humidity but that's way too high for my tastes.

    Boston area cigar lounges

If you get to Watertown, definitely visit Cigar and Lounge http://www.cigarandlounge.com/ A great, friendly place to smoke. They have a very good selection, and Demian and Big MIke, the owners, are very knowledgeable and helpful.

What cigars have the most pepper/spice?

Funny how everyone's tastes differ for the same cigar. I don't like much pepper or spice, so checked this thread to see what to avoid. And I see listed all of my favorite cigars that are in my regular rotation (Don Pepin, My Father, CAO Brasilia, MOWs, and pretty much anything by AJ...

    Boston fella. Kinda new.

If you're ever in Watertown, check out the Cigar and Lounge 56 Dexter Ave . It's a very comfortable, friendly place to smoke. The cigar selection is good, and the two guys who own it, Demian and Big Mike are very knowlegeable about cigars but absolutely not pretentious. In fact, nothing...

    What are you listening to?

Shameless plug - listening to my jam band playing some of our originals at a concert at a local music festival (I'm on sax). I always smoke a cigar just before a gig to get warmed up

Smoking to manage pain - your experience?

Thanks for the replies. The consensus seems to be it may be in our heads, it may be relaxation, but it seems to work. All I know is that last night I was in some sciatic agony. I told my wife I needed a smoke and remarkably she said to go for it. And I was mostly pain free for a couple of...

Smoking to manage pain - your experience?

Last week I experienced what appears to be a herniated disc (my second one) and the associated sciatic pain. I noticed that when I smoked a cigar, my pain level went from 7 to 9 (on the 10-point pain scale in common use) down to 2 to 3 while smoking, and this lasted for up to an hour after. I...

My girlfriend of 3 years broke up with me because of cigars

Rudyard Kipling said it best.... or at least most poetically The Betrothed - Rudyard Kipling Open the old cigar-box, get me a Cuba stout, For things are running crossways, and Maggie and I are out. We quarrelled about Havanas—we fought o’er a good cheroot, And I know she is exacting, and she...

Getting burnt out on one cigar?

Another thought that just came to mind... I get together a few times a year with some old smoking buddies who have spread out across the country. We each bring a bunch of our favorite cigars and do an exchange (and smoke a bunch of them as well). It's a way to diversify your stash, especially...

A look back at cigar prices

My standard is the first cigar I ever smoked, and still smoke today (among many others): Parodi Amazatti. 50 years ago when I bought my first box of 5 it cost $0.23 or about $0.05 per stick (now that's a bargain). Today it's about $1.00 per stick (and about $0.75 each in boxes of 100). This...

Getting burnt out on one cigar?

I used to lay in box or two at a time and smoke through those before restocking, but I found I had a similar experience as yours. I would just get tired of the same taste over and over. Now I lay in a wider variety of sticks, usually 5ers, and almost never smoke the same cigar twice in a row...

Laid in a few bottles of the Island's best today.... 7 Fathoms Rum, aged in barrels 7 fathoms under the sea off the coast of Grand Cayman. (Residents get a free bottle for every four we buy, so had to stock up - and it does go well with a nice cigar on the beach)

    So Sad

That's the tough thing about dogs. We become so close to them, knowing that we are going to outlive them. But you would never trade the pain of losing them for never having the opportunity to bond with them in the first place. When we lost our last dog I didn't want to get another one - why...
