I smoked two cigars of my first blend this weekend. They felt pretty solid before I lit them up. About 1/3 of the way into them the entire cigar got very mushy. I'm thinking that I didn't roll the binder firm enough or not hard enough press in the mold. Any suggestions will be greatly...

For some reason, I almost always have a smoke and few fingers of rum, or scotch, or bourbon; When I roll. They just all fit together nicley! Like peas and carrots!

Ahh. Looking at that, now I'm thinking not enough glue on the edges. I can't get mine to lay down worth a darn. I'll keep at it. Bunching 4 more of a different blend today. Wrapping practice continues tomorrow!

Two with San Andres wrapper and two with Nic wrapper. I've still got to cut them to size and my cap cutter is a tad bit small for this size cigar. My flags could use some work. Overall for my first 4 cigars, I'm very happy with how they look. Now is the hard part, not smoking them before...

Webmost, That's exactly what I did. Pull a few different 5x52s to see what they felt like. I knew mine felt light. I bump up to 5 leaves. Changed the blend to 2 leaves Nic Seco Esteli, 2 leaves Nic Viso Jalapa, 1 leaf Nic Ligero Esteli. Now, they may be a tad bit to fat. 4 1/2 is probably...

Awesome! I knew by feel it was under filled. My leaves are pretty small. I'll roll some tonight with 5. Once I get something that looks like a cigar, I'll post a picture.

So, I rolled up 4 cigars (52x5) last night. I started with ½ leaf Nic Seco Esteli, 2 leaves Nic Viso Jalapa, ½ Nic Ligero Esteli. Nic Binder. I quickly realized that 3 leaves were not enough filler. I rolled 2 more using full leaves of Nic Seco and Nic ligero (4 leaves total). I still think...

BH, how would you describe the flavor of the Aripiraca Wrapper?

That was me. I said “almost zero” which was an exaggeration on my part. I scoured the internet before placing my order for tobacco. There is not a lot of love for the maduro wrappers that are available to DIY rollers.

I was noticing that there are almost zero maduro wrappers for the home roller. I've got a humidor full of dark goodness all comercial. Any idea why that is?

My RH outside is 73-80% pretty much year round. With my A/C running non-stop (tempurature of the sun in South Texas), I'm guess my house RH is around 40-50%. I have a feeling the more I roll the more I will smoke. I'm hoping I can get atleast a few dozen cigars stashed.

I see a lot of cigar manufactures wrap large bundles in newspaper and leave out in a giant aging room. I'm assuming the entire room is humidified to some degree. My plan is to leave my fresh rolls out for 10 or so hours. Then newspaper wrap bundles of 10-15 and put into a large Tupperware bin...
