Help with a Montecristo No. 2

I live in Brazil, where Cubans are legal and plentiful (albeit expensive!), for this reason have smoked many Monte #2s. They are the most consistently perfectly wrapped cigars I have experienced. Also consistent in color. Their maker's attention to finish details is legendary. In your pics...

    José L Piedra Nacionales

Given a good length of time in the humidor, the harshness during the final third diminishes, but you will always note the lack of complexity. It just isn't in the stick to take you to too many places during a single sitting.

    Jose J. Piedra

Have experience with brevas and cazadores, both very similar. Have that Cuban cache at a non-Cuban price, but lack complexity and evolution - start and end on the same notes. A nice change of pace to keep the palate from becoming accustomed to regular favorites.

At what point did you believe that you went from a newbie to a smoker of experience

When I realized the error of the expression "smoking," while spending time with a fine cigar; but instead began considering the experience an hour or so shared with the product of a concerted effort by various artists.

The confusion between body and strength

Had this conversation (mild or full) while smoking my weekly, yesterday. My contention is that if someone prefers mild aromas and soft flavorings while enjoying a cigar, they should merely smoke it in that manner. If one prefers a stronger aroma or pungent sting of a "peppery" assault to the...

    Cubans vs Non-Cubans: A THEORY

Your food metaphor would be closer to the situational reality if you said that in addition to the best Maine lobster, the customer got the very best, award-winning locally produced Bavarian chocolates and the freshest locally produced award winning fruits and vegetables. That local control is...

    Best cheapie

The JLP cazadores and the brevas are both as cheap as I can buy any good cigar and offer that Cuban cache that makes the island's stogies stand out from the rest. I have no problems at all with buying a box of 5 for the same price as a single stick of Monte Cristo and extending the enjoyment...

    Brazilian Puros?

    Show/List your latest CC Purchase

Always looking for a sale item from Cuba, I bought these from one of my favorite B&Ms last week: Got both the Montecristo Eagles (6 1/16" x 54 ring) and Punch Black Prince (5 5/8" x 46 ring) while each were (US =) $5 off the regular price $22 and $17 each. I felt buying all four for just...

Cigars just as bad as Cigarettes

Cigarette addict (extreme addict) for 28 years, off of them for 20 1/2 years. Started smoking cigars 5 years ago. I believe I should have credibility. There is no equality within the experiences. Cigarettes are all about the smoke in the lungs; cigars, the aromas and experiential sublimation...

Are Cuban cigars really the best?

Those Bahia grown puros produced by the German manufacturer Dannemann are among my favorites. I recently bought a bundle of unbanded seconds by Dannemann for (US =) $4 each, that are every bit as good as the equivalent priced CC's Jose L. Piedra cazadores. In fact, the Dannemanns are better...

Are Cuban cigars really the best?

On average, by far, Cubans are the most expensive cigar. Does that mean the best? Maybe. Wish more of you could become exposed to the wide diversity of Brazilian puros (the best kept secret in So. America) in order to find out how value can also shade the opinion of a discerning cigar lover..

    Cuban vs NonCuban cigar brands

The cigar industry may be the only one to tolerate trademark infringement on such a commercial scale. If you built cars in your garage and called each a Rolls Royce, how long until you got a knock at your door by a British lawyer or local dissatisfied customer? If its not a Cuban made, it is...

    Orange Bowl refuses cigar sponsorship

Unfairly demonized again! And yet, I would imagine that there will be celebratory stogies lit up in many locker rooms between now and January 8th. http://sports.yahoo.com/top/news;_ylt=A2KJNTsNtPhOrTMAw0VNbK5_;_ylu=X3oDMTBmYnBhcGw4BHNlYwNzYwRjb2xvA3NwMg--?slug=ap-orangebowl-cigarsponsorship

The Changing Face of the Cigar Smoker

Regardless of your opinions on the many sides to the man, I think Arnold Schwarzenegger has done a lot to invigorate, in a health conscious way, the perception of the cigar-smoking man. Sort of took cigars out of the dark mafia boardroom and lit them up in the daylight, as a reward for doing...
