  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Reading the Tat Pork Tenderloin Review (it's a white whale of mine) reminded me of something special I've been sitting on since 2009, a FFOX BBMF Maddy. I am taking it out of the cello now because it looks a bit dry. Tomorrow afternoon I'll smoke it after it rests next to a boveda pack for a day.

Straight (and dry!) out of the cello it smells of cocoa and barnyard. Construction is shockingly good - was expecting a ton of glue on a stick like this, but the only place I see glue is near the colita. Pix in a bit and a full review tomorrow!

Before anyone else says it, yes I know I need to replace my deck. It's a f'ing deathtrap. I have the boards you can't walk on spraypainted with Xs. Reminds me of the opening scene from Indiana Jones.

How I got this cigar: traded with a friend I think. Anyway, the price was incredibly reasonable. At Casa Fuente they are $160+ a stick, which is just retarded. For it to be even a $60 stick it has to be the best thing I've ever smoked in my entire life. But that's not the point. It's a white whale. Expectations never measure up to reality so I'm just going to smoke the damn thing and tell you how it is.

Would make for a fun drunken night though, right?
Most definitely. last year I had a big BBQ that ended up with a bunch of drunk (and hot!) girls dancing to Gangnam Style and stomping all over the deck. One of them put their foot through with hilarious results! 10mo later she walks pretty good, just with a limp. Hot girls with slight defects are quite vulnerable ;-) I think there's an entire episode of Always Sunny in Philadelphia dedicated to that.

Sweet! 116 views on a thread for a cigar I have not even smoked yet! Gonna pour some scotch, head out to the deck in a bit and fire this thing up. Rain in the forecast for the first time in 3 weeks, so hopefully I don't have to move to the garage.

It's lit, it's lit already. started at 1:10pm PST. Draw was tight at first but opening up after a bit. Notes of cream, cedar, and dark rum-raisin to start. Have some 24yo Laphroaig to go with it.

So far I'd say it's like a FFOX PL with a tighter draw and more sweet cream notes. Nothing "Big Bad" or "Motherfucker" about it yet. We shall see!

Mild through he sinuses, picking up more sweetness from the maduro and a bit of floral.

I think Corona in Orlando has some for $90 if anyone wants one
They need to save their money. Unless this cigar transforms into breakdancing strippers that wanna fight each other it's not worth $20.

At 1" in it's only now starting to draw decent, and barely.

starting the 2nd third at 2pm. about $60 of ashes just dropped on the deck! Will consolidate review notes later with all the pix I'm taking.

Smoke production, draw and strength are all improving!
