  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

OK, we've talked about this in the past and I'm going to officially get a thread going to help gauge interest and toss a couple options out there as well.

I'm thinking sometime in July as the weather will be good then and courses in pristine condition...barring any terrible winter kill. And have several courses in mind which are in the poll, links to them are also included.

Erin Hills Under $200 with cart, I've never golfed there, but it sounds freakin' awesome. This is a bit of a drive from Green Bay, about two hours. We could stay in GB and drive, or stay at a hotel nearby too.

Black Wolf Run / Whistling Straights These courses have held US Womens Opens, PGA Championships, Senior US Opens, they are some serious courses. Prices range from $180 to $400 with cart/caddie. About an hour and a half from Green Bay.

Thornberry Creek This is where I play most of the summer, not a Black Wolf caliber course, but no slouch either, it's nice. About $55 with a cart, this course is right in Green Bay.

The Golf Courses Of Lawsonia First off, this is a Mormon owned course, so there is no drinking allowed, however, the course is well worth it. 36 holes, two different style courses, the Links and Woodlands, I prefer the Links. $85 with cart, or for $145 you can do both courses. GPS in cart, it's nice.

i've only got 2, and you can't use them!!!!
You'll need more! I was a Marshall for the mens PGA Championship and we got to golf all the courses for half off for one week, I golfed five days straight, Blackwolf Meadows, Blackwolf River, Whistling Straights Irish, Whistling Straights Straights, Whistling Straights Straights. By far the best week of golf in my life. Playing with a caddie is just flat out awesome.

I don't mind going big, I just don't want to eliminate a bunch of guys cause we're spending a few Benjamins on golf either. I'd rather play a $90 course and have 20 guys than a $300 course and have 4. But it's early, let's see what the poll and replies say.

to answer the quesiton seriously, i'd say as long as the course was nice and well manicured, it wouldn't matter.

it really sucks to make a big drive with big anticipations only to get to a course that sees 494 rounds a day making the greens look like a WWII battle field and the traps look like a beach aftger spring break.

as long as it's a good course, i could care less.

HOWEVER, i'm must talking here. i'd be doubtful for that trip, with the job situation and all.

Hmm I voted from the main page not knowing what the poll was for. Now even though I'm not likely to drive to MN I'd go with a cheaper course for people like me. Those that aren't regular golfers (ie not good) and wouldn't want to spend serious cigar cabbage on lost golf balls along with greens fees.

I just remembered this thread, and I talked to Greg (sauzatime) on Saturday about golfing. Maybe he and I could carpool and make it easier on each other? I'd be up for it then!
