I'm going to cut to the chase. This is a cigar worth smoking. It's not like "holy shit go get some" but worthy of attention.
Let's get to the facts. Here it is the 5 Vegas Series A Triple A.
The band is flashy. Look at me, I'm a pimp, flashy. Gold, white and in your face. Not exactly understated, but it does the trick. This is blended by AJ Fernandez for 5 Vegas.
The construction is impeccable. I can not find a flaw in anything about the cigar. The band is top notch, wrapper is flawless and it is solid the entire length. Nothing to fault. No prelight draw as I am using the "French" method.
Lets fire this puppy up. (That's for you, Yan)
Pepper. Always the first retro hale. You know it happens. I wait for the first 1/4" to subside and only then do I start my analysis
Chocolate. Dark chocolate. Anise and licorice. Espresso and dark chocolate flavors galore. This is not a stick for the timid. The spice is light but the flavors are heavy. This is a full bodied stick that does not require your full attention, but will take it if you allow.
2nd 1/3 kicks up the spice. It's a crescendo. I can tell its only going to build from here. Espresso, dark chocolate and a touch of spearmint. Strange but that's what's there. Flavors are bold and present. You will not mistake this stick for mild body. Fairly complex and in your face.
Last third. Hold on to your seat.
Licorice, dark chocolate, cream, espresso and heavy spice. Black pepper. Very dark flavors punch through. This thing is screaming "look at me". I'm looking AJ. And I feel you.
The nub is fairly warm and tends to the harsh side. As you can see it didn't stop me from nearly burning my finger tips. A little bitterness creeps in the last third, though not enough to take away from my overall enjoyment of the cigar.
Summary:
Construction = 15/15
Burn = 15/15
Draw = 15/15
Complexity =7/10
Flavor=19/25
Finish=6/10
Overall Experience=8/10
Total = 85
