  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

5 Vegas Cask Strength II Toro

Construction:

The Cask Strength has a smooth, dark brown wrapper with an oily sheen.

It feels like a Padron 1964; a box-pressed cigar that has some give when squeezed. It doesn't feature a dense pack.

The pre-light flavor is that of straight tobacco.

The Cask Strength had an absolute perfect burn never giving me any problems. The draw was on the loose side but it still burnt for well over an hour.

1/3:

From the start the cigar puts off a ton of smoke. I mean a ton! The loose draw is evident from the first puff.

The flavors are straight tobacco at this point, with heavy leather notes. There's a slight (very slight) spice on the finish.

2/3:

The flavors are the same but the cigar picks up a bit more of that spice.

(Enjoying some good music while I enjoy the 5 Vegas Cask Strength II)

3/3:

Still the same flavors. The cigar remains fairly consistent throughout. Some tobacco, some leather, and a little spice. Nothing to sneeze at, but nothing to write home about either.

Overall:

Not a bad cigar for the price. Great burn, tons of smoke, and decent flavors. Though, if you're looking for a full-bodied powerhouse with better and more complex flavors, I'd look into the Ruination, T110, and the La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero line.

Nice review, thanks.

I have smoked a few of them, and I think you are right on with your description.

I'm definitely a fan of the 5 Vegas line! Haven't had the privilege to try this, maybe I'll look out for it at my shop over break, yet I doubt they have em. My roommate's favorite stick is the 5 Vegas classic due to it's smoothness and consistency, so maybe I'll pick out one for each of us.

Thanks for a great review!

Please do. Let us know what you thought of it.
I one I just finished looked to be the same size and shape that you smoked.

I thought it started off very mild, but by the 3rd or 4th puff I started picking up some spiceyness.

The 1st half wasn't bad, mild but nice draw and a good amount of smoke.

The 2nd half, in my opinion, was where this cigar started to take off, the spice increased and I was really enjoying this cigar (Thanks Ciggy!) and it finished off closer to a medium bodied cigar.

I really enjoyed this cigar and would definately buy more to smoke in the future.

This cigar is rolled with a dark Cuban-seed wrapper and all ligero fillers. The combination creates full flavors with notes of spice and a blend of pepper.
