So this morning, in honor of Veteran's Day, I decided to torch a cigar won from a veteran's contest. Ciggy's For My Grandfather Pt II about his grandfather's job (signalman) on the WWII Destroyer. I've never done this before, so please bear with me...
I also took some advice from the sticky Mitch posted Cigar Primer for new smokers. I slowed WAY down and it really really helped. Everyone should read this and re-read this as it's vital information to enjoy your smoke.
Ok enough rambling...
Pre-lite taste that I got was apples. I thought this was weird but it will come back later.
1st 1/3: Light was great, white smoke, thick ash. I got an overal nutty taste and it was really enjoyable all throughout the 1st 1/3.
2nd 1/3: After an unexpected guest stopped by, I had to relight but let it sit after relighting so I didn't get any harshness. (learned from Mitch's post)
I got a slight pepper taste, but not overpowering and a definite woody taste. I liked that a lot. Toward the end of this third, there were heavy overtones of some specific nut, I was thinking hazelnut at the time, but as it got to the next part it felt more like almond.
3rd 1/3: Same nut taste is really present now, and rather almondy. Really enjoying this cigar at which point I'm thrown a definite new taste........
......
Applewood smoked bacon???!!!! This thing is awesome, and making me really really hungry. Because I've been eating healthy as of late, I only eat turkey bacon, but i could definitely taste applewood smoked bacon. Best bacon ever. Has anyone else ever gotten this kind of taste from a cigar? This is my first time reviewing, so maybe I'm crazy.
At the end, all in all, it was a great cigar. Definitely enjoyed it and it took me about 90 minutes with the 10 minute interruption.
Please all comments welcome, and someone tell me about the applewood smoked bacon!
