I just have a Fuji A340 and a free program called Autostitch then Picasa2 to Crop it and do some basic editing.

No wonder it had an unreal quality to it! The shadows change drastically from one side of the view to the other (since you're looking in different directions) so it just doesn't look "right."

Very nice all the same, though. My Fuji did well for me, too.

You are as right as any other post I've ever seen on this site. I've been to 40+ states through my short time on this planet, and though I love Europe (Spain in particular), America has almost every amazing natural scenery one can find on this planet. We are blessed to be here.

PS- Badlands national park is amazing! Word of advice, they tell you not to try and climb the formations; take their advice! They crumble with the smallest of effort and make for a real landslide.
