This place IS my vacation
Appearance and Prelight: 10/10- This wrapper looks different than some other cigars I have had recently. It almost has this very fine “soil-like” dust that coats it. The smell of the cigar itself also brings earth and wood, so this is a very interesting side note that I picked up on. I have really been looking forward to smoking one of these for a long time. I decided to set this one ablaze while watching the gold medal hockey game. (Too bad USA lost, LOL) Anyways, the draw on this stick was absolutely wonderful. The prelight draw brought some nice tones of cream and earthiness; Beautiful box-press construction.
Flavor and Notes: 8/10- The first couple draws brought a nice peppery zest that sat great on my palate; very sweet in taste. The first third was very consistent; mostly earth and wood overtones, and the nice zest undertone. A tad of sweet cedar came in to bring the stick into its second third. Now, I was starting to get a campfire-like tasting wood throughout most of the second third. The “zest” toned down a tad to let the other flavors become dominant until the last third. The last few inches to this work of art was very peppery, especially on the exhale. This was a fairly simple, however amazing smoke that was very enjoyable. I wouldn’t call it full bodied though. It was a very nice cigar to just lose yourself in.
Burn/Ash/Draw: 9/10- First off, the burn was excellent save one point near the middle. However, I let it go to see if it would correct itself. It did, and very quickly too. The ash was a very dark grey and reminded me of dry soil. The draw was amazing! It never tightened up or changed throughout the cigar. Definitely box-worthy!
Smoke time: 1 hour, 42 minutes.
