I sell a good amount of Acid 5's in my shop but have been low on stock for a while. Every time I order through my Distributor I get the 'ol "backorder" song and dance. Yesterday I was told there is a rumor Drew Estate is discontinuing the Acid 5 line.
Anyone have insight?
Below is my review of the Acid 5:
I won a box of Acid 5 Robustos signed by Jonathan Drew a few years back. After the event I asked if I could trade them for a box of Liga...ha! Soooo...I took the box Acid 5's home and let it sit as I also don't normally care for infused cigars, if only because they tend to stay on my palette long after I've smoked them.
A few months later I grabbed one late in the evening as my last smoke of the night. I set aside all pretense knowing this was an infused cigar and would not compare it to a "real" cigar experience.
Great construction. The sweet glycerine tip is all part of the Acid experience and it suits the 5 well. Burn was consistent and easy draw provided lots of smoke.
The 5 was described to me by Dirty Fabian as "smoking the entire Acid line all at one time". My assumption is they run the tobacco through 5 different infusions (Kuba, Cold Tea, etc.). The result is a complex blend of herbs and spices with a pronounced sweetness that is balanced with the infusion. About 1/4 of the way through there was a flavor profile that presented itself that was familiar to me. I ran inside and poured myself an ounce of Green Chartreuse liqueur.
My friends...this is the PERFECT pairing! :togetherl
The combination of flavors explode with green floral herbs, cinnamon, cardamon and a pronounced anise seed finish.
I give the cigar by itself an 87 but bump it up to a 91 when paired with Green Chartreuse. This is a unique smoke and I would highly recommend it as the LAST smoke of the day as the infusion will throw off the flavors of a following cigar.
