  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Hi all,
I recently bought myself an Adorini humidor, it came with their pre calibrated hair hygrometer. Unfortunately (probably due to being posted from Germany to the UK) it is reading 8% higher. Adorini tell me to adjust it by turning a screw in the back. Now the problem being that there is what looks like a slot for a screwdriver at the rear. However it doesn't adjust the needle. This hygrometer works with a hair and not a coiled strip of metal on the inside.
My question is- Can it be adjusted?

Yep, very helpful. I think I've sorted it now, the little jewellers screwdriver I was using was turning in the handle...

Be interested to see how accurate it is. I hear hair hygrometers (as opposed to spring driven) can be very reliable.

All looks good at the moment, it took me a few attempts to get it set. A bit fiddley with my sausage fingers...

I have it in a humi that has an Adorini Cigar Heaven controlling things, it appears to be spot on.

My brand new adorini humidor with hair hygrometer moves the whole lot, when I adjust with a screw driver, the whole lot spins at once, needle, measurement disc and all! :rage:

Yes mine did also. If yours is the same as mine, you can prise off the gold rim and it all comes apart. If it's lose it will spin when you try to adjust the needle.
Work your way round the rim squeezing it together. All should be good. Also when adjusting, make sure you pinch the whole hygrometer together as you go and that will prevent the dial inside turning.

Yep I figured it out. If you push down gently but firmly on the glass it will stop spinning inside and you can adjust the needle alone. Mine is bang on now. I'm confident in the accuracy but they are very touchy.
