I decided to give this a try, I have a billy goat pallet but this was a great smoke and I wanted to share:
"The CroMagnon is a new line of premium cigars developed through the collaborative efforts of Skip Martin, of Hava Cigar, and Michael Rosales, of Adrians Premium Costa Rican Cigars.
The CroMagnon contains a long-filler, full-bodied blend of some of the world's most sought after tobaccos. It features a beautiful US Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper, a unique Cameroon binder and an amazing marriage of three Nicaraguan varietals in the filler.
The filler leaf for this blend was acquired from three separate growing regions in Nicaragua: Esteli, Condega and a small farm north of Esteli on the Honduran border. This third leaf, a ligero, brings a strong, smoky, savory flavor to the blend. When combined with the mildly-sweet characteristics of the broadleaf maduro wrapper, the exotic bite of the Cameroon binder and the clean finish of its viso and seco companions, the blend delivers the precise deep rich tobacco flavor the blenders wanted to present in the CroMagnon."
Size: 6.00 x 54
Vitola: Toro Grande
Wrapper: Nicaragua
MSRP: $8.00
At first glance you can see this cigar has a toothy oily wrapper. It has a good heft to it and is firm with no soft spots. The pre light was predominantly barnyard and leather. The first puff you get lots of pepper and the retro will bring tears to your eyes. After the first few puffs I was glad I had a big steak for dinner. The barnyard and leather mixed with the spice stays with you for the first third and you get a great tobacco flavor as well, I am really enjoying it. It also has hints of espresso and a mild sweetness, or that could just be my billy goat pallet coming into play. The draw was what I would describe as deliberate (borrowed from Bob and Dale). At the second third the spice falls to the background or my tongue is numb, not sure which. The smoke is almost chewy and there is lots of it. The finish on this cigar is long and pleasant which surprised me somewhat since I would call this a strong bodied cigar. The final third for me didn't change much, the spice did make an appearance at the end of the cigar which was a very nice way to end. The ash was firm and had no trouble hanging on well over an inch at a time. I will definitely be looking to get more of these and try the different sizes if I can get some. On a side note, I did smoke this ROTT but I had only one burn issue and it was not a major one. I will let the others sit for a while and see how they age (if I can control the urge to smoke them). Total smoke time was a little over 2 hours so grab a drink of your choice and relax. Thanks for reading, hope you got something out of it.
