  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I enjoy camping and hiking, but in the cold, lighters don't work well and with the wind, I suck at lighting cigars with matches.
Anyone have any good tricks I am.over looking? For now I just hold my lighter in my glove till it warms up enough to work.

Thanks!
Michael

The cold can hinder the lighter. Find a good torch lighter, and when I am outside in the winter I try and keep the as close to a warm spot on me at the time. Usually deep in a pocket and I try and a hand on it inside my pocket keeping my hand warm as well as my lighter.

Definitely need to warm your lighter if it has been in the cold....to get the butane warm.

As far as in the wind...butane lighters do only so well. The more wind, the harder to keep the lighter lit. The Xikar EXII actually does a great job in high wind...even tho it is a soft flame.

I have a Vector dual flame lighter that seems to do ok in the cold weather. I just keep it in my jacket pocket and that keeps it warm enough to light my cigars. I have had this lighter for about 2 years without any problems.
