  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Adwani Maduro

A buddy in my poker group had mentioned that he had tried a new cigar, and was bringing some to our next game for me to try. It’s a house cigar from a family owned group of shops here in the San Fernando Valley called Cigar House.

One of the brothers in this family took his passion for cigars, and created the Adwani line; carried exclusively at the shops. Part of the launch of the Adwani includes a website, which is not quite complete, but has good information on how to find the shops, etc:

The range comes in a few sizes, and a few different wrapper choices, with binder and filler from Nicaragua. The tobacco is aged for a generous 3 years, and then aged another 6 months in cedar chests after rolling in cedar chests.

I sampled the maduro robusto.

Prelight
The wrapper had a nice sheen, and a floral bouquet. A few veins present, but smooth to the touch. No hefty, but not light either…Seemed to be packed well.
The cut provided a good draw with just enough resistance to potentially burn well.

First Third
The cigar lit easily, thanks to the well-aged tobacco. A slight floral aroma presented itself right away. I am generally not a maduro fan, as I find that most maduro wrappers tend to overpower the subtleties of the blend. This wrapper was slightly sweet and fruity, and was tempered by the earthy, spicy notes in the profile; much like the Cameroon wrapper in the Fuente Don Carlos line is sweet, but balanced by the rest of the cigar’s profile.

Notes of figs, and dried fruit with a background of earth and spice.

The cigar burned well, and the ash was solid and evenly patterned.

Second Third
I would say that this was a on the lighter end of medium bodied, with a nice balance. The flavor profile continued to provide a slight sweetness and spicy earth with a short finish of figs and coffee. Great, pleasant aroma.

Last Third
Very consistent cigar…Although the intensity increased slightly, the flavors remained even and the cigar burned very well. Dried fruit, figs, and white pepper against a background of earth and burnt espresso.

Closing
A nice, enjoyable smoke, with good complex flavors. The patient production and aging process of this cigar provided consistency, balance, and great burning qualities. This could be the beginning of another great boutique cigar.

Nice review, but where are the PICS!!
LOL

I almost never take pics in my reviews. I love to see pics in other reviews, but I don't have a very good camera. Plus it's a pain to try to take decent pics when I am trying to concentrate on the cigar and its nuances.... :)
