Ok I'm not a photographer. But I bought a quadcipter with a camera to see the world from a different perspective...and to fly it!

In getting feedback about it, it sounds like there's others on here with similar gear so thought I'd start a thread to share any cool shots from a bird's eye view".

The only I got so far is my kids playing in the yard since I'm learning to fly(insert Tom petty reference)

More to come I'm sure :)

It's funny I hate the whole drone thing but love seeing photos and videos from them. Can't wait to see the images you get and the progression as you learn the ins and outs of it.

Very cool, Chef! Which one did you end up buying?

Now...WATCH YOUR FINGERS WITH THE PROPS! (D.A.M.H.I.K. - Don't Ask Me How I Know). Those suckers are spinning at 17,000 RPMs!
I went with the phantom 3 advanced. Bought extra battery and upgraded charger(which is surprisingly useful).

Been fun so far, can't wait to venture out. Current high is 400ft altitude and 1400ft away! So...friggin....awesome!!!

Some of the drones r up as high a 1000ft , most drops from the air tankers r done at 1000 t0 1500 ft above ground level .....
The Helicopters r dropping at about 500 to 1000 ft above .....

While doing helo wildfire drops we are below 500ft AGL almost the entire time and definitely much lower on the drop. To qualify that comment I'm a Bambi bucket crewchief on H-60 with a couple fire seasons and a lot of drops under my belt.

There is really no place for UASs "drones" in a fire's ROZ unless it has a solid 2000 ft vertical block of dedicated airspace. To qualify that comment I'm a UAS pilot on the MQ-8 and Scan Eagle.

I'd love to answer any questions people have. The national airspace hasn't been cleared for civil use without very strict Letters of Agreement and Certificates of Authorization. There are exceptions to that rule, like Insitu Inc. is doing work up in Alaska, but the airspace is the Wild West up there.

Cheers,

Zak
