  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Although 8 month isn't quite enough time to be considered "aged", I still felt it was necessary to touch base with a cigar that I enjoyed so much during the later part of last year.

Slated for today was…

Tatuaje Drac
Size (Shape): 52 X 6.75 (Torpedo)
Estimated year of Production: 2009
Packaging: Cab (Coffin) of 13
Origin: Nicaragua

First Third: Nothing too special. Open was very similar to a Cojonu or Reserva. Classic Tat flavors with a predominate flavor of chocolate.

Middle Third: This is where the flavors really opened up. It reminded me so much a J21, but with a little extra. "Bonfire" like flavors: wood, meat, and rich tobacco. I can honestly say that I tasted chocolate chip cookies. Unfortunately the burn was a little haywire from here on out.

Final Third: Not much of a transition from the middle third. Picked up more spice. The finished seemed to go on forever.

Overall Impression: With all the hype surrounding this cigar, I was expecting something great. And I wasn't let down. Having smoked a hand-full of these, I think that they are consistent enough to be consciously considered for long term aging. Pete blended a real winner here, and I am really looking forward to his third Monster Series release.

I am debating on whether or not to open the black bag that they originally came sealed in. (Coffin is not in the humi...Nice convo piece in my home office)

On one hand, they are more collectible unopened.

On the other hand....I WANT TO SMOKE ONE!!!!!!

I've got two of these that I picked up in trades. I'm really itching to smoke one, but on the other hand, I told myself I was going to let them rest for a year or so. Decisions, decisions......

Great review, thanks for the update! I keep hearing this same report from people who've smoked these recently! I hope to burn one shortly after I'm reunited with my cigars :)

Nice review! My buddy finally smoked one of these being that he hadn't yet since he was letting them air out of there terpentine caked boxes, lmao! Being the first he said it sucked to where he literally pitched it after the 1st 3rd... too bad it seems these are so hit or miss and very little consistency, seems very much like a cuban limited edition which are just notorious for there inconsistency and that's why I don't buy them anymore.

nice review!

I was given and smoked one tuesday night. First 1/2 was fine but nothing too special, second half the flavors ramped up and were very nice.

I've got 2 more that I'm holding till Oct.

Adam, thnaks for your review, how much additional time do "you" think they need?
It's hard to say....

They are smoking great now, And I wouldn't feel guilty lighting another one up. At the same time, I don't see the flavors going south anytime soon.

Whether you smoke it now, or wait until the time is right, you won't be disapointed.
