  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Ok dumb question alex, but isnt that the same principle as what a car's cigar lighter is based off of? I know a lot of cars don't come with them anymore, but depending on the make and model you might be able to find them for your car.

Beats me. I haven't even been in car with a built-in lighter in ages.

Well seems they're out of stock anyway :disappoin. Looks interesting, but what do you do if you need to touch up the cigar? It doesn't seem like it'd be too easy to do that with this lighter. Maybe I'm wrong. I tried lighting a cigar with my car lighter once and it didn't go well at all. This thing looks a little like a car lighter to me and so I'm already a little hesitant...especially for that amount of money. Maybe one day, just because I like cool gadgets.

I was thinking the same about touch ups...Methinks it would be hard.

Not to mention, if your driving along, using a torch, and you drop it, it extinguishes. If you drop that, you might burn your interior, or worse.

I've seen the cigarette USB lighter and this is built on the same principle....as far as practicality goes the price tag isn't anywhere near where I'd even be interested in much less the technology...even though it is a cool concept but short on reality. I'm one of those lighter folk who loves new and different types of lighters but always keep coming back to the natural flame because....it just works better at what I want from a lighter. Natural flames burn cooler...there are those that are windless ( not totally but still very good ) and there are brands like Xikar that are made with an absolute guarantee that if it stops working...you get one for free. I can buy 6 Xikar Soft Flame Exodus for the price of this one and with the money left over buy a 1000 cedar spills.

Yeah, that price tag seems a bit high for a new aged car lighter.

Also on the FAQ it says relights and touch up are do able do to the heat given off and not needing direct contact on the element.

Personally, I love the flame and part of the "experience" for me. That said, that is pretty damn cool. Little out of my price range to get my hands on + out of stock. But ya never know :ccool:
