  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Well moving into the new house hopefully next week... what would be my best option for an air purifier for a few hundred or less?

I have this one. Cheap and works great, no filters or other stuff to buy down the road. Wife approves and I smoke every day in my home office.
However, I do have an inline exhaust fan setup as well and would not count on this solely to do the job.
I run exhaust fan when smoking and turn on air ionizer during last third and let both run at least half hour afterwards. Then ionizer is on timer to come on for an hour or so middle of the night and a coupe of times during the work day just to keep things fresh.
Good luck with the move and congrats on the house.

I've been through quite a few air purifiers. As the previous poster said, an air purifier or multiple units, will not be as good as a proper exhaust fan.

Don't buy any air purifier/smoke eater that uses hepa filters or hepa type filters. Cigar smoke will quickly clog these filters and make them useless. Filters are expensive, so it just not a good option.

Go with a decent system that uses the metal plates that you clean on a regular basis. I use windex to clean mine and it works great. Also, most of these units don't move a ton of air. Be sure to buy one that cleans the room at least a few times and hour and that it has a decent fan motor. The silent cleaners just don't work very well because they can't move the air, which is crucial for any sort of cleaning.

When I get there I'd like to put an exhaust fan in on top of the filter. And maybe crack the window for good measure. On the bright side the kids rooms wont be over the garage anymore :)

Machine and WNYTony are right on. When I smoked cigarettes I used the ionic pro and it was awesome. No filters.
Note, You may find a fan on top of the ionizer may actually impede it's performance.

I ment in the room lol. I still have to build a wall so I have some time for research. Wife laid claim to the already finished room in the basement as a play room for the kids and the big finished room will be common ground lol

Please tell your buddy to stop running a ozinator in his home! It's not good with chronic exposure.
