Okay, before I get into the meat of this, I just want to ask this: As I am not someone to talk sh*t about anything, let's try to keep this thread from turning into a bitch-fest.

So I have smoked maybe 5 Alec Bradley cigars. (Prensado, Black Market, Family Reserve, and MAXX all come to mind) and I can say that for eveyone I can remember smoking they all had the same mineral-ish bitterness to them. They had a nice flavor for about a third (each one was at a different third), but then the other two thirds would have this "weirdness" (let's just call it that) that would make it's way into the flavor-mix. So my question is this:

What is up with that, considering it was every AB I had smoked, and all at various ages - a month to 2 years?
Has anyone else noticed that?
Is there an AB blend you really like that I should try that doesn't have this "weirdness."

I have more than a few ABs in the humi. Maybe ill light one up next time and see if I notice this. Best help I could offer. It could be the soil composition of a particular leaf used in the blend.

I have had a handful as well and don't care for them. I don't know what it is either. I have the same feeling for RP stuff but I have heard good things about the AB Freedom. I may have to go try that and see what the hub bub is about. I may be just getting picky though, I feel like a old timer because I gravitate mostly to Padron now. Lol

I've only had a few AB's, but don't really remember exactly which ones (they were all smoked a while ago) and don't really recall this weird flavor. I have a black market resting in my humi so when I light it up, probably with in the next few weeks, I'll be on the look out for this.

The only one I was "blown away" by and that didn't have that taste that you are describing was the Tempus lancero that Jay gave me. Maybe it had to do with the age of it, I'm not sure. I have a couple sitting now, so I will report back to you.

I used to smoke a ton of family blend and presaeo. All seemed to have sorta the same platform but for a budget gar. I would go back to these two again.....

I really enjoy the American Classic. Can't say that I've experienced that same type of flavor you mentioned throughout their lines.

I used to smoke a lot of Alec Bradley and still occasionally enjoy the Maxx, SCR, Black Market and New York. The Tempus always had a metallic flavor to it and stayed there through the whole stick each time. I went through a fiver and never tried them again.

A lot has to do with how they have been kept and for how long. Too many enthusiasts want to smoke the product as soon as it hits the skids and then wonder why they taste so flat or worse yet...mineral"ish"....I smoke a lot of different cigars and like the AB line of cigars esp. their front line. I do know that smoking them too early leaves me with a 'meh' feeling and that's because cigars tend to keep fermenting even after they are rolled. Most of us know that there is a 'sick' period and that gives cigars that kind of taste along with some ammonia. Another 'sick' period comes after about 9 months but isn't as noticeable as the first one. There is also a transfer of tastes between cigars if you use certain types of RH...I know when I use KL if I spray too much DW over it that it gives off a certain 'mineral' type of smell...which is why I only mist lightly over it. Another reason for the taste is that it could be yourself...have you changed up your diet...anti biotics will neutralize your tastes and most everything has a different sense of taste...if none of the above is relative then maybe your taste has changed to such an extent that you need a change of brand.

I've had the Tempus, Prensado, Brazil, Sun Grown, American, etc... I've pretty much tried most of the line. I never really noticed this flavor your speak of.

Could be the humidity levels or the age at which you're smoking them.

Sean, did you purchase all of these from the same place?
If they were all stored the same way from X location, that might be the culprit. Trying them from a different place could change things.

Just spitballing.
