  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Any truth to this quote?

I know there are many savvy Habanos smokers in this site, and I would truly appreciate opinions on the accuracy of the qoute below.

Thanks in advance for any replies,

“Pacific Cigars Company Pte Ltd Hong Kong retains 100,000 sticks per year which it releases 5 yearly. They call it their Aged Cigar Program and they charge a premium to retailers. These cigars (some as old as 1995 vintage) are released once a year by PCC. They contact their leading retailers There is no secret to this program.

When (we) received the official 2006 Habanos s.a list for discontinued cigars, (we) requested PCCHK order 50,000 assorted sticks of what was available. From memory (we) received 27,000. That was a specific request and so (we) received the stock. Similarly, any significant retailer with a good relationship with PCCHK could do the same. They would not do it for grey market dealers or retailers outside of their region.“

I wouldn't doubt it! Not sure to the exact figures of your quote, but tons of online vendors have continually varying aged stock. It's hard for me to believe that, for example, sticks just got "buried" since 1983. Now who ages them, whether it's PCCHK and/or other companies, is unknown to me. Sticks definitely increase in value over time, and nobody has patience to age their own, so I don't doubt that some large companies buy discontinued/rarer sticks with the intent of aging them for a few years before selling.
Just my $0.02, though.

Thanks for the replies, guys---Much appreciated!

I am asking because I simply do not know whether or not this information is correct, or just some fiction designed to dupe an unsuspecting buyer.
