Ok, I picked up one of these from the New Years Box pass and let it isit for a bit in my humi. I finally broke it out tonight and smoked it at work. Here is a little information that Arganese Cigar Company put out:
Maduro Presidenté Robusto
Ring: 50
Length: 5
Band color: White
Wrapper: Maduro, Brazilian Matafina
Binder: Dominican
Filler: Dominican
A full-bodied cigar, packed with intricate and complex flavors of chocolate, espresso, and black pepper. The Brazilian grown Maduro wrapper provides a slightly sweet, seductive smoke. Superbly constructed with a perfect draw and luxurious finish.
Prelight inpsection shows this cigar is well made and had a few minor veins running the length of the cigar. It actually has a nice band and the cap was well placed. Firm, but springy on the feel. Hints of coffee, nuts and wood emit from this cigar prior to lighting. After cutting the cap with my Palio, coffee, chocolate and cedr come through on this one. The prelight draw was loose and had no restriction.
I toasted this cigar and it lit with no effort. Lots of smoke were produced by this smoke and it appeared to have no burn issue. The taste did not match my initial pre-light draw though. Burnt coffee, wet hay, watered down cocoa and cedar came off this cigar, giving a mild to medium bodied flavor, which in my opinion was one dimensional. It bruned well and had lots of smoke with no issues.
The cigar continued burn well. The ash stayed tight on the cigar and was dark and light grey. Surprisingly, this cigar burn very even and continued to produce a great amount of smoke. But, the flavor was still bland and one dimensional. Still the burnt coffee, wet hay, cocoa and cedar, as well as nutty flavor, which I could not pick out.
Overall, this cigar sucked. There is no nice way to say it. Although the cigar was well made, had a good burn, nice ash and produced a good amount of smoke, the flavor and blend was terrible. There was no pepper in this cigar, nor was there any "sweet, seductive" flavor. I might try another vitola, but am not impressed at all. In my opinion, it was a waste of 55 minutes and I did not even finish the last two inches. On a scale of 1-10, i would rate this one about a 6.5. There is no way that this is a full bodied cigar like the manufacture states.
Side note: Although I didn't care for this cigar, someone else may find this cigar fits well within their flavor range. It's important to try cigars and experience the blend yourselves.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
