  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Who likes them? I've tried and just cant get into them. They all seem sticky and goopy. Am I doing something wrong? Or is that just the nature of the beast

I am not sure what Aromatics you are smoking. I can say most of the ones that I smoke may be little sticky but not goopy. Off the top of my head I will start with NON OTC because I do smoke loads of Aro that are OTC. However my first on my mind Aro is from Mac Baren. The Cube Silver. I love it. Some say it is to sweet I say just right. Then for less sweet Englaish Aro I would say Mac Baren Plum Cake. and last cause I could be here a while is McClelland Frog Morton Cellar.. There are more but Dinner done GTG

Try Bosewll's aromatics. They are very good. Christmas Cookie & Pipers Pleasure are good ones to start with. I prefer English blends, but every now and then I will smoke an aromatic blend.

Only like a few but MAYBE smoke one a month. Can be a nice change of pace or a crowd-pleaser if ya have company. C&D Autumn Evening, any Boswell, P&W 191, Sutliff Molto Dulce and Maple Street, Gawith Top Cherry, Lane 1 Q, SWRA. Frog Morton Cellar- yes I consider it an aro.
That's all I got

D/FW. Mesquite to be specific.
I disliked the plum cake, but seems it's an aro lots of people like. If you want one that's kinda unique, try shortcut to mushrooms!
Is it really an aromatic? It definitely smells like it has some English components in it.
It's kinda like a hybrid. I'd still count it in the arp group cause of the heavy casing that can lead to it getting mushy towards the end

I've found myself going back to three aros: CAO Black, Sutliff Molto Dolce, and Irish Whiskey.

I have some more that I have not yet decided on if I will buy more of. One is Drew Estate Toasted Black Cavendish.

As a newbie, I loved the DE Toasted Black Cavendish. I haven't tried it again, but just because I have a billion others I also need to try.

I smoke some once in a while, honestly, I dont like aro's, they always seem to let a bad taste in my mouth clear up to the next morning, like cold staile smoke... but I dont get that taste with english and latakia blends...

I guess they are just not for me. The CAO black is what I was smoking that prompted this thread. That is why they make so many different tobaccos.

This is me mostly. I don't like the lingering flavor from aromatics. I also tend to taste a weird off putting sweetness in them. I have gone to more of a no casing tobacco for myself by blending up my own plugs to cut flakes from. I would say there's a possibility a good aro could be made at home that's drier and has less sauce all over it (similar to the G&H flavored ropes) which would maybe get me to smoke something that's classified as an aromatic. Maybe I'll give it a shot. I should buy some burley and make a nice flavor to make a burley flake with a little VA added.

My purpose of this thread was to get someone to say "I love them" and I was going to blow their mailbox up!!! Seems as though we are all in the same boat though.

Haha how about the Solani mango flavored tobacco. Come on mango?! This is why I disliked hookahs so much while I was in Turkey. I like the way tobacco tastes all by itself. I don't need a crappy molasses flavoring making it goopy and sweet. No thanks.

Exactly, this is why its so hard for me to find a pipe tobacco I love.. It's just so much different than I expected. Maybe It's an apple and I'm expecting it to be an orange. I haven't given up.

I did find early on that aros with strong fruit turned me off. Anything with cherry I'm finding that I typically don't like. Haven't tried anything with apple yet but I have to say that I really do like the Molto Dolce. I'm pretty sure that the Molto Dolce is going to be that guilty pleasure - sort of like keeping a Neil Diamond album mixed in with the Ramones, The Clash, The Jam, The Dead Kennedys...

Where is the "like" button?!?! You sir, are hilarious! I too don't normally go for Aros, but I do enjoy Molto Dulce occaisonally and the CAO Black even less freqently in smaller bowls. The Peter Stokkebye Luxury Twist Flake is one that I really love that I bought thinking it wasn't an aro. Come to find out it has a caramel flavoring added (not a ton) that I really dig on since it is subtle, doesn't get goopy, and doesn't have the fake/nasty aftertaste I get from most heavily cased aros
