  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Well fellas it has been a long time since I have done one of these! With all of the talk about reviews and bringing up an old fellow who used to do a certain review style, I thought I would bring another back from the dead! So for all of your enjoyment…a “Moroesq” “Review As It Burns”! The smoke that I have picked today was a Padron 1926 80th Anniversary. This cigar has been sitting in my humi since the HTF box pass for a “Very Special Day”. It has been hard to resist it every time I open the lid, but yesterday was finally a “Very Special Day”! Due to work and dinner plans with the wife, the cigar had to wait till tonight! I hope you all enjoy and thank you for reading!
Nick
The Padrón 80th Anniversary cigar was made to honor the 80th birthday of Jose Orlando Padrón, who founded this prodigious cigar company in 1964. These special cigars are being made in Estelí, Nicaragua, and they are perfectos, the first the company has ever made. These cigars are finished in box-pressed format and dressed in a Nicaraguan sun-grown wrapper. All the tobacco in this cigar is aged a minimum of 5 years.

Size: 6 3/4 x 54
Wrapper: Nicaragua
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Smoking Time: Hour 20
Beverage: Beer:)
Price: Around $32.00 a stick

Pre-Cut: The cigar is a work of art in just a absolutely beautiful perfecto size and unique roll. The cigar is definitely hand rolled and has a slight bowing to that gives it even more charm. The smell of the cigar is of rich tobacco with a slight brown sugar and spice hint to it. With no signs of wrapper imperfections I would quickly give the appearance a 10/10. For those that would argue the bowing to be an imperfection…you are right…but the personality gains the point back in my book!

Pre-Light: A little tough to cut...surprisingly. No signs of why...just a little bit of a tougher cap I guess. The dry pull tastes of light tobacco and once again a light cocoa taste. Very delicious!

1/3 : Great initial taste with a nice little pepper blast to begin. It mellows out after about 3 pulls and starts in this sweet dark coffee taste. So far no draw issues or burn issues. The dark coffee taste builds sweeter by the pull and turns to more of a really good dark chocolate taste. I am not a coffee guy but I am really digging this taste.

2/3: Just mellowed out into a great cocoa / tobacco / earthy taste! I could smoke this for hours with this taste. The Ash was a nice white with dark lines and held all the way till I set it down after the above pic. A little uneven at that point but fixing itself pretty quickly. Man this is a delicious stick!

3/3: Had to take band off right after the above pic. The ash fell once again when I set it in the ash tray. The taste has spiked a little more spice again with earthy tones and the chocolate undertones. It is still a very delicious smoke! The last inch and a half the smoke lost the chocolate taste and just has a good tobacco and earth taste to it.

Well I am going to nub this one out and leave the review to rest! Overall this was an amazing stick! Worth every penny for my .02! If you have the opportunity to try one...do it! It is a great stick! I am not a professional reviewer but I would put it at a 92! Thanks again for everyone who read this far! It was a great time reviewing it! Now back to the celebrating! Thanks guys! Nick
More to come...

Looks great so far brother, can't wait to read the rest! Of course, I must be on something to even purchase one of these...WAY out of my budget range. Maybe when I become a Police Captain or something and I can afford it :skew:
