  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Hey guys,

I'm off to the Ashton "event" around the corner in an hour. How do these things work? There is no cover charge, and I guess it's just a rep or two from Ashton there. Do they just give discounts or are they handing out free smokes? What's the deal? Do I have to smoke it there?

Sometimes free smokes, and usually a discount on certain lines, but not always that great. Id recomend smoking their cigars, but by no means is it required. Nothing likelighting up a paron in front of the ashton rep and telling him how much you love those cigars!

Usually the reps have deals on certain lines of smokes they are promoting. Sometimes the store has separate deals, it all depends on what the shop owner works out with the rep. It's not required to purchase anything from them, but I wouldn't go trying to make conversation with them about another company's stock!

Dude...We were kind of disappointed. They were only showing the new San Cristobal by Aston and the prices were between 12-18 bucks apiece. With a buy 2 get one free special. Theuy were pouring wine and Jonny Black. I could have made it worth while if I drank thier scotch, but I had to drive. We ended up leaving empty handed. Oh well we didn't drive but a block or two to get there.

Events are a tricky thing. When my brother and I host an Event at the store we never know what to expect. Our last Ashton Event was amazing, we were the first store in the country to launch the San Cristobal, however we had specials on all Ashton's lines. We gave bigger box discounts and even free cigars when you bought any 3. We also raffled off cigars, humidors, travel cases, etc throughout the night. Maybe these guys had never done an Event before???

Dog Rocket, I agree: Watman is a gem!

Dpricenator: AZ has a per stick cigar tax of .22, so my San Cristobals are (roughly) $8 to $12.50 for the Maestro (the Diademas), plus that tax. I think Ashton hit a home run with the SC's, but I've enjoyed Pepin for a while now. I think they have a little better balance than the Tatuaje Havana VI Line, although blindfolded I might be hardpressed to tell them apart... I would rate (whole line) around a 93-94, with the Supremo and Guajiro being my fav's. I've been a little busy lately, but i promise to post my video tasting of San Cristobal vs Tatuaje and Opus X vs Ashton ESG soon!!!
