  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I got this smoke via a customer service issue at a retailer in Philadelphia.
So, I figured that it would be good for my first review.
I'm no expert, so bear with me.
The prelight draw was very tasty, a bit of mellow nuttiness in there.
1/3 = The initial light was very pleasurable. The smoke was thick and heavy, and tasted good on the palette. During this time I was getting slight hints of leather, a bit of very mild pepper, and wood. Overall, not too bad.
2/3 = As the cigar got going, the flavors developed and gained more depth. The leather was stronger, more nuttiness, and the pepper flavor arrived in a very good way. More pronounced, but not in your face and unpleasant. The smoke got thicker and more enjoyable as well.
3/3 = I needed a roach clip, b/c this got smoked to the nub. Fingers burning and all! It got a little hot and spicy, but I slowed down the puffing and it balanced out. The pepper at the end was enjoyable because it still didn't kill all other flavor. The smoke was heavy and awesome, and all the flavors mentioned earlier were in full force.
This was a good cigar, and I would definitely buy one in the future if the price point was a little lower. I may however let it sit for about 6 months to a year to see how it develops.

Nice job Ian! (y) I do like these, but find them a tad on the pricey side for the flavor you get...glad you got a freebie!
Thanks man. Yeah, I agree on the price point. If I saw a deal on these I would grab them, but otherwise, it's not a price point that I like!
VSG is one of my all time favorite smokes! Great job on the review.
Good taste man, and thanks!

Nice review. This was my first favorite and always keep them stocked in the winador. Since, for me, these are very bold in flavor I tend to keep these as a once in a while cigar. I alway think of the eclipse as having an oily leathery taste.

Great review.

Nice review. I am still slowly getting to where I can pick out some nuances. So I will not be trying a review until I get more comfortable with them.
As for the stick... sounds like a good one. I will have to see if I can find one.

A member at my B&M who isnt really very friendly to many people was having a good time at the Ashton event. He walked up to me and handed me an Ashton VSG Wizard and told me its his absolute favorite and I need to smoke it soon. I have enjoyed fresh and aged vsg so I am looking forward to it even though the RG is more than I go for. Your review is spot on about these. Generally woody and delicious smokes.
