  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Anyone have any tips on keeping them looking nice? I have the worst freaking time keeping the ones I have from fading when I wash them. The ones I have are the ones with the metallic paint, if that makes sense. I had a nice Cohiba one, but now the Cohiba symbol is gone. Had the same issue with another. They obviously function fine, but I like them to look nice as well.

nah bro... no idea. The heat from the ashes seems to strip the metallic paint. My Tatuaje ashtray doesn't have the fleur-de-lis in the inside of the bowl anymore.

Im not too worried about i though.

I'll have to try the furniture polish deal.

And yeah, Buzz, that's exactly what I'm talking about. Just aesthetics, but still.

I dont blame you for wanting that design to stay nice and clean. I really want a cigar ashtray, and went to price one out from the B&M's with various brand names on them and such... The Price... wow, i quickly realized i'll stick to the ground, or a cup. Beautiful pieces, but hard to justify the cash.

Why not get a plain ashtray? There are lots of good ones to be had for less than $30.

I know the B&Ms will hate me for this but you can find nice ones online for cheap. Also they have the stinky ashtrays that are finished with brown and flat black for $20 or so.

If you get the crystal ones, they look good and won't wear out - just have to be careful not to drop or knock them against anything hard. I use my crystal ashtrays often and they always look good.
My alloy and stainless steel ashtrays look ok and are super durable.
The ceramic and porcelain ones, especially those with gold trim, I just use for display as I do fine with using the others.

Having used my grandfather's ash trays (crystal and blown glass), I've always wanted to get one with a "brand" on them... now I am thinking twice.

don't use them. :stretchgr aside from that, don't stamp out your cigar in it (let it go out in the stirrup,etc.). clean after each use (wipe out w/paper towel)
