Hi guys,

Atabey and Byron cigars

Just starting to see these come over to England...was just wondering what you guys think of them and are they worth the money?

Cheers.

I've always wondered about them. My B&M sells them for upwards of $30, so I won't be buying them anytime soon (or ever). I seen some people that believe they are made with Cuban tobacco but I always thought that was rubbish. I'm interested to see if anyone on BOTL knows any more information, but for now I would hold off buying them unless you have the cash to try one for the ridiculous price.

I have had one of the smaller vitola byrons. It was $20 at my b&m. Very good. Complex, medium body and flavor. For $20 and 35 minutes smoke time I cannot rave about them. If you can get a single to satisfy your curiosity you will enjoy it, but don't expect life changing.

I can only speak to the Byron Reserva 5 años. I bought a few of them ($30 dollars/stick) and I think they are excellent. Worth buying at least 1. Those specifically have this chocolaty smooth flavor with sneaky strength. They may not be for everyone but I certainly liked them quite a bit. The price is the only thing keeping me from buying more. Worth 20, not 30. Ultimately it comes to this fact: do I want to pay 30 dollars for a Byron or do I want to pay 30 dollars for a Padron Family Reserve? Padron every time.

These cigars are impeccable to look at. The construction is absolutely flawless and the ceramic jars they come in are something to behold. I wonder if that plays in to it. If so, it's a shame because I definitely think they would get more attention if they were less expensive.

i am surely thinking humidor tax on these. AND they want to be in the hyperpremium luxury category, they are basically wetting themselves to look like BHK's. LAT looks like a subtle nod compared to these guys.

BUT that is just me being a critical bitch. to the original post, they are listed in cali, texas, and new hampshire, from what i can see. and, from what i hear the guys who have seen them in person havent had the stones to drop coin on them. shame, really, i would love to see the smoke live up to the packaging in all honesty.
