Didn't realize I hadn't reviewed one of my favorite mild sticks and figured I would jot down my take on it.
Carlos Torano Casa Torano Robusto (4.7" x 52)
Mild - Medium
Wrapper: Ecuador Connecticut
Filler: Dominican and Nicaraguan
(note: the maduro is a very different stick and I want to give it more justice by reviewing it fairly shortly after having one as I don't smoke them as often as the natural simply because I don't usually have as many on hand.)
I titled this one "A Newbies Must" because I feel it is just that. Not intimidating in any way, shape or form yet engages the senses enough to give anyone (save for the utmost "full body" purists) enough to ponder while they burn through it.
I don't really delve into all the individual flavors at each stage and where they hit you on your pallet, although please don't take that as talking down in any way to those who do submit very detailed reviews as I enjoy reading the poetry of them and looking for the same when I try the reviewed stick. If I had to put some flavors to it I would have to say earthy, sometimes floral, nutty, maybe slight fruit and a good leathery tobacco.
This is a very non-offensive cigar to non cigar smokers as well. Not much "funk" to it and I have gotten many comments from passers by noting how good it smells. The aroma coming off the foot is almost an amped up version of what you get through the draw, maybe indicating that this one might deliver even more if I slow down even further.
I have smoked a lot of these and always get great burn and construction. They are not too finicky on pace although they will go bland if you heat them up too much. As stated above, I try to get it even cooler to get more of what I get off the foot and/or retrohale more.
I always have them on hand and sometimes have to push myself to grab one simply because I have so many other sticks that I either haven't tried or provide something different. Every time I do grab one though I am always satisfied and scratching my head why I do not go to them more.
Do yourself a favor and give them a try. If you just truly don't like mild connecticut sticks then skip on to the Maduro and I bet you won't be disappointed.
