  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

AVO LE 2007
I sat down this evening with good company and a great cigar. I clipped and took a dry pull and was intrigued. The construction and clip was perfect, the draw was easy and produced a ton of smoke!

1/3: the first third was very interesting. I pulled on the cigar and released subtle notes of cedar and pepper. The ash was perfect, it held through the whole first third with a razor sharp burn. This cigar is shaping up to be near perfect in my opinion...

2/3: the second third errupted spice and more notes that reminded me of nuts. The ash is just as strong as the first third before it chipped; and the ash is razor sharp!

3/3: the final third was the most enjoyable part if this cigar. The final third consisted of a very nice spice, that had notes of cedar. The ash was strong and solid, and the burn was much of the same from the first 2/3, razor sharp.

I had a total of three ashes through the duration of this cigar! I could not believe the complexities that were released throughout this cigar. I had to stop and ask myself more than once, "is this really an AVO?" This cigar is a must try for anybody who is looking for a truly enjoyable and very clean smoke. The vitola was the perfect size to release every nuiance. Personally, with one more years age these cigars will have a perfect balance of body and flavor. This cigar was near perfect, if I had to put a numerical value to it, 9.7.*

Nice review, these were my least favorite of the avo les until the tesoro came out. I haven't had one in a while, might be interested to see if some time helped them.

Thanks for the great review!

9.8 for the Avo 22 and 9.7 for the LE 2007. I think I definitely need to pick up a couple of these! I thought that I was all set with the few LE05's that I have, but maybe it's time to branch out into the Avo world!

The AVO LE09, in my opinion, is going to need some time down, just to let you know. I feel that it has great potential to be something great, just time to settle. I have had conversations with people who have had much experience with Avo and his cigars, and it seems that his "uber" product needs time down. These people have assured me that this stick was something to be desired; the words used were, "grassy" and "too young". I can only assume they were right, because both the LE05 and the LE07 I have smoked have been fantastic!

Thanks for that info! I actually smoked a LE09 last week, and while a great smoke, I thought to myself that I will let a few rest for a few years and see how it changes. I definitely agree that it needs some time to settle.

Hmmm. I agree, sorta. A lot of Kelner LEs are sometimes a little to edgy and do need to settle down. Even the davidoff LE's are too rough. There are three notable exceptions in my opinion. The Griffin's XXIII, the AVO LE05 and the Companero ('09). All three will benefit with age but were extremely enjoyable right outta the box.
