  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

:computer:Sitting here slowly working my way through this double IPA here and so far i am finding it very tasy. Anybody else have any thoughts on this beer, besids the fact that its expensive. About $20 for a six pack here in Chicago after taxes. Nice and Hoopy, doiesnt end bitter but rather very sweet, no doubt to the honey it is brewed with. Tasty, tasty!

I almost bought a case last night but the wife was with me. I got shot down on the $64 case of beer. I asked her to check if the one grocery store in many miles has six packs. I'm sure they do afterall I know what distributor they get the beer from.

Benzo and Rich,

Limestone Brewery right down the street from the Leaf had it on tap as of 2 weeks ago...I had a couple and they are amazing. They only got 1 keg so I'm not sure if any is left...Benzo, this info probably would have been more useful to you prior to the herf, sorry I didn't see this.

I just drank one the other night. It was awesome I throughly enjoyed it after two locally brewed tripel-like belgianesque holiday brews. My wife had a fun passenger on the ride home.

Had my first experience with Bells this past week. Rec'd a 6'er of the Two-Hearted and a single 12 oz'er of the Hopslam. The two-hearted was nice, but considerably milder than the West Coast IPAs i'm accustomed to.

The Hoplsam on the other hand.....was impressive. Very nice Hops, backed with an underlying sweetness to round and smooth it out. I enjoyed that one quite a bit. Was similar to me to the He'Brew Lennys Bittersweet RIPA, but a tad smoother on the finish.

Anyway, buy this Hopslam stuff up if you guys' can find it....it's excellent!

Hopslam is great.

Two Hearted is really good too. Are you sure they didn't send you an "old" bottle? IPAs lose their luster rather quickly as you know. That's why Pliny has all that "drink pliny fresh" jargon on the label.

I love the Hopslam. Having gone to college out in Kalamazoo, Bell's has been a staple in the fridge.

My buddies do not seem to enjoy it as much as I do so I only buy it in the bottles. I do not drink enough beer to get the mini-pig and have it stay fresh.

Best regards, tony

while I'm not positive as to how fresh the two hearted were Adam, the 6'er was gone in the first two days of landing on my doorstep....think I might still have the bottles in recycling to check for a born on date or something.

I didn't hate em whatsoever...far from it.....they were good...but I've mostly been drinking doubles....so most regular IPAs would seem milder to me as a result.

Ever heard of the term Lupulin Treshold shift?

well, I hadn't until I googled it....lol. I'm sure it's a very real thing, not being able to taste hops in other lesser hopped beers due to drinking overly hopped ones consistently. Maybe I have that, I dunno. But I still enjoy Bear Republic Racer 5 just the same. Had a couple last night, and that's a regular ipa. Enjoying other non-ipas (excluding Stouts, still plenty goin on there for my palate) though....that HAS been a problem for me. Ambers/Browns, which I used to enjoy, don't do it for me any longer.

I do think though, that there was a considerable difference in the hop strength/flavor between the Bells two hearted and most West Coast IPAs....the Bells just wasn't as strong on the pine/citrus bitter factor. I tasted the hops in it no doubt, was just expecting more from it I guess.

Thanks for introducing the term though....never heard that before.
