  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I don't know if there are any fellow BOTL's in the Bishop California area but it looks like I'll be flying out to Vegas and then driving to Bishop in the first week of may.

I'll be renting a vehicle with 3-5 other people so it would be nearly impossible to arrange a meet up any place that isn't a short distance from Bishop, but I'll be bouldering (form of rock climbing) there for 10 days somewhere surrounding the first week of may and I'd be more than happy to either bring along a few NC's or pick a couple at the airport (duty free I guess?) and share a smoke or two with any local brothers.

Let me know

AMGRacing is going to school in Mammoth which is not all that far from Bishop. He may be able to hook up with you. Bishop is kinda by itself at the base of the sierras. Be sure to bring a fly or spinning rod as the fishing is excellent in that area. Magee Creek for one. Mahagony Smoked meats on the north side of town has some of the best jerky and smoked sausage in the western US. Schats Bakery has the most awesome jalepeno cheese sheepherders bread you all ever ate plus a great number of pastries. Damn, wish I could meet up with you. This was my old jumping off place for climbing the sierras. Have fun on the boulders. As you look south west you will see Mt. Whitney, 14,495 feet. When you have more time, ascend the west side of that for the hell of it. There is a trail up the east side but where is the fun in that?

Thanks for the heads up guys, I'll most certainly have to check out Mahagony Smoked Meats and Schats Bakery. I don't know how much time I'll have in my off days between the interests of the group so it's doubtful I would be able to convince the party I'll be traveling with to go to Mammoth but I'll pm AMGRacing regardless.

I think I'm most looking forward to lighting up a nice smoke and taking in the scenery of the serrias after a hard day of climbing, I might just have to write about it ;)

Nice to find another boulderer here! I'm horrible at it but I like it.
I have no problem being horrible at something Tim, but I wouldn't want bouldering to be one of them. Just my .02.

:help: :help:

And, yes, it's freaking beautiful up there. Some great skiing in Mammoth if you need a day off the rocks.
