  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Anybody know where I can get them? I've got some custom sticks coming that I'll want to mark.
If you didn't want to buy 500 at a time from HF, you can post a message in the trading room. I'm sure there are brothers out there who'll be happy to do a simple trade :headroll:

Not a big fan of the HF cigar bands. The adhesive on them isn't very strong, and based on the way they do it...it ends up on both sides. So the outer side is somewhat sticky too.

I will take it a step further and say they straight suck, I would not recommend them either!

I just use an inkjet printer and some heavy duty paper. Cut to size, glue with pectin, done deal.

Some of you might know Doug "Buddha-Daddy" in SoCal, I received the attached excel template from him years ago.

Should be self explanatory - one sheet for one-off bands, one sheet uses a macro to automatically populate the entire page with identical bands. Print, cut on the lines and tape, pectin or use a glue stick on the ends and wrap the cigar.

Another one I've seen done is the narrow post-its notes that are like 3/4" or 1" tall and 3" wide - turn them over so the glue faces out, write on the back and wrap the cigar.

I don't have a problem at all with the blank bands from HF. BUT, I don't use them alone. Using just the blank band, they won't stick. However, I label my cigars and I use self-adhesive address labels on which I print the cigar, vitola, date added to the humi, and how I acquired it. I prefer using the blank bands over a plain piece of paper I cut up (which I used to do). It is more durable and, quite frankly, I think it looks better. can check out my thread here:You How many were you looking for?

The best bands I have ever seen or used, come from Bob Ramstad. You can see them here. You might try emailing him if you are interested.

Yep, that is all I use (and they are GREAT), but I am VERY interested to see what JD has up his sleeve...

Totally agree, those are the best I have seen and very reasonable in price. Those are the only ones I use. I usually buy 1000 at a time, it that is too many for some folks try splitting the cost/labels equally. Bob sells these on another board without issues, hundreds of positive TC for him, I have bought with him several times.

Those ones look really nice..... I did buy the HF ones too in a group buy and they aren't great. I am excited to see the JD ones too.
