  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Blasted cigar bans!

Anybody here knows if this was Altadis's only factory? Because if that is the case, then it's 10x even more unfortunate! No more Montecristo, H. Upmann, Romeo y Julieta, Trinidad, Don Diego,...

I'm not sure, but they probably only make machine made cigars (Phillies, Backwoods, Dutch Masters, etc.) there. Most (all?) of Altadis's premium hand-made cigars are made in the Dominican Republic, Honduras, or Nicaragua.

They did say that it was a "decrease in demand for the blunt-shaped cigar as reasons for the closing." That leads me to think Phillies and all the other gas station variety.

"Altadis U.S.A." is part of "Altadis S.A." which is in turn part of Imperial Tobacco...which just happens to be the world's fourth largest international tobacco company.

They have more factories than you can shake a stick at.

And in case you didn't know, they don't make *ANY* of the brands you listed in premium hand rolled cigars at that factory; they can't afford to with American labor costs.

Thanks for clearing everything up for me, mate (I had no bloody idea where Selma was, neither if there was where they made those brands (because they *ARE* Altadis's), nor knew about Imperial Tobacco and the fact that Altadis USA is just a part of Altadis S.A.). Regardless, this still is bad news to the tobacco world.
