  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Blind Review: El Triunfador lancero (new blend)

Size: Lancero

Smoke time: 3:10 pm - 4:10 pm

Appearance Light tan, seamless wrapper with a decent amount of veins. Nice triple cap with a small fan tail

Pre light Slight sweet aroma

1st Puff: Very dry parched leather taste, a solid pepper kick, medium body, great draw

1st Third: The dominant flavor is a very dry leather with a nice pepper and slight sweet cedar undertone. There's a faint mineral after taste.

2nd Third: This lancero has a razor sharp burn. It's impeccable. The flaky ash held on for about an 1.5" and then fell into my lap; dammit. It progressed into a medium-full body with the same dry leather and cedar wood flavors. The pepper that is present is now white pepper rather than a "hot" black pepper. This one of the "driest" cigars I have ever smoked. I've gone through nearly a glass of water already. I have a solid nicotine buzz.

Last Third: The cigar is a still a medium-full but the flavors have shifted considerably. It's still very dry leather but now there's a dominant sweet taste prevalent. It's a very welcome shift. There's a light "soapy" clean after taste. It's kind of odd but not in a bad way. Almost a relief after nearly 45 minutes of mouth drying leather. I have a massive nicotine buzz at this point almost headache inducing so make sure you have a full stomach.

Final Thoughts: I'm a corona guy. It's the perfect size for me. However, as I'm beginning to smoke more lanceros I'm starting to enjoy them almost as much. This cigar had a great draw from beginning to end. The construction was perfect and the burn line was spot on. It wavered one time but caught up within a minute. I really like chocolate and espresso cigars so these flavors weren't in my wheelhouse but overall it was a solid cigar. It reminds me of the Padilla Miami or My Father lanceros so if you like them you'll enjoy this one.

Score: 87

Thank you very much mwlabel for providing this cigar.

Sadly, you will have to wait until I get home tonight since I can't remember which one that is. LOL

Excellent review, brother!

Awesome review. The formatting is really nice. I may have to borrow that format if I ever decide to post a review...
